After being told to come in and that they were in-stock, I was told that they are discontinued as there are too many stacks. Just an FYI!

Yeah...
I find it highly unlikely that the company would discontinue something because there are "too many" stacks. After all they aren't losing money, they are making LOTS of money on the stacks... so why they would discontinue would be beyond me. Lol.
If that's the case then we can assume that pretty soon Dove and other products will be discontinued too.

how is kimberly clarke MAKING money when we stack and get the product for free? just like how sc johnson decided no more stacks..weren't they LOSING out on money??
It doesn't make sense to discontinue the product, but it makes sense to say no to STACKING it...
