The last time I had one done (several years ago and I'm long overdue), I think I spent close to $60, and that was at an optical in WM. I'm about to book an appt again and I'm wondering if there's a big scale of difference in eye exam prices? Where did you go and what did you pay?

Not all walmarts have an optometrist. Some have just your regular MD...or OB-GYN. You may be better off going to a real eye doctor...

Just a word of advice...didn't realize the one here was not an optometrist...

So true, it's best to make sure you are visiting an optometrist. Some eye centers simply have you look into a machine to 'determine' your prescription. That's fine it you are not concerned about eye health. A qualified optometrist will check the health of your eyes during the test.

Wizard's Optical on Spring Garden Rd.... In the same building as Subway has the best price as of last year when we got ours done. We paid $69 at Walmart (Burnside) but called around for frames and lenses cause my DH is on his way to being blind When we got our glasses and contacts we found out that it only costs $60 for an exam there. My glasses (2 pairs) cost $122 and my DH glasses and contacts cost $237, everywhere else we checked would have cost over $400 just for my DH due to his remarkable healthy vision HA!......He must not have ate his carrots as a kid

Good tip on the optometrist designation. I make sure they have that designation for myself and DS#1. But DH goes to an ophthalmologist in the city, he's got diabetes and needs their specialty eye tests.

Yikes on $150 at BPM! That a big yellow arrow "avoid" sign for them, thanks! Sounds like WM's prices have gone up too. Insurance covers quite a bit of my fee, but still!

I have diabetes so I get my eyes checked once a year for free, I go to the one on Tacoma Drive. Also if you go to your GM and have them send a referral to an optometrist sometimes there is a long wait but it's usually covered by msi.
