If I had to only pick 3 things
it would be 3 "sections: I'd have to go with:
#1) Butt wipe
#2) HB items
#3) Cleaning supplies of all kinds (toilet cleaner to windex)
Those are the things that would throw off my budget whenever I had to replenish along with my regular food shopping so that's what I would pick.

Guineapig,
Just three?
That's hard to do.
So, I would say three categories for me
1. Food: canned sockeye salmon bought on sale for 3/$5. This is healthy fast food for me, when I don't have time to cook and won't go to McDough's
2. Vitamins: I have not had a cold for 5 years. I think it's because of getting enough sleep, fluids, washing hands, and...my vitamin C stock pile when there's a great sale (like Walmart annivesary sale)
3. Rice: love Uncle Ben's converted or brown rice. They are easy to cook and free. Great to add some veggies to it for fibre. And, combined with my healthy fast food salmon, it's a quick and healthy meal.

i believe the church is the church of jesus christ of latter day saints ( or one of the break aways) aka mormons.
they do instruct the members to have a year supply of food on hand, as they believe the end of the world is coming and that there will be many things happening to prevent people from just being able to go to the store and buy what they need, like natural disasters. most members of this church in my experience do not do this though, although the household i grew up in did, but only food items was stored. the prophet does ask that the members have it, but as far as i can tell they don't say your not gonna get into heaven if you don't have it.

Personally I think it is a very smart thing to have a "stockpile" to an extent in case of an emergency. Whether it be a natural disaster or a financial one by loosing your job I think everyone needs to be prepared.
As for the church suggesting to have it I think it might just be because they know that we may have to be self sufficient for something like 72 hours before any help can get to us in the form of ambulance or even other members of your church.
Either way I think it is a brilliant idea to encourage it.

Hmm this one would be a really hard one for me to just decide on 3, I guess my top 3 would be:
Food (I'm going to group this all together lol) canned goods, cereal, soup, meat, veggies
Laundry soap, no way I will ever buy it full price again
Toilet paper, again no way I would ever pay over $4 for a package of toilet paper again!
I have a fairly large stock pile of other items now but these are the three that I could never have enough of!

Always looking for items on my wishlist, Stouffers and ICoke pins! As well as RAOK Campbells soup labels for my kids school!

For the venus razors check walmart, in the clearance section or the part of the pharmacy where they have all the shampoo and conditioner packs (bonus packs, buy 1 get 1 free). Sometimes they have the razor blades (4 packs) with a bonus shave gel or razor for $8 doesn't make sense that a bonus would make you get it for less than half price but it's an amazing deal. I stalked up in the summer and still have so many, plus if you combined it with coupons you could be paying about $1 per blade which is definitely worth it
