I know not everyone lives in a Wind zone and can take advantage of this, but for those who do, this is an awesome deal. I believe this is the best cell phone plan bang for the buck you can get right now.

    For $29/month you get:
    -unlimited local talk
    -unlimited text within Canada
    -unlimited data

The last one is the big thing for me since Bell/Rogers/Telus charge such ridiculous rates for data.

    This is with no contract.

The downside is that voicemail is an extra $8/month with this plan but if that's important to you for $40/month you can get a plan which includes everything in this plan, plus unlimited Canada-wide calling, plus voicemail.

I've recently made the switch to Wind from Rogers - the horrible part in my eyes was the lack of iPhone support. That said, if you don't have an iphone you CANNOT go wrong with Wind. I've got the $45 unlimited plan and can say that at times the connection really slacks - however, considering the price at $45 a month compared to my previous plan with rogers which had 6gb data limit 500 talk minutes and no long distance for $80.

For value you can't go wrong with Wind for performance you can.

I'll make the switch once the coverage is in Halifax. It was rumored to have full service by 4th quarter 2012 here.

I had wind data stick the price was good but I find it hard to contact customer service so I went back to rogers. Another problem I had was that they bill on a 30 day cycle (no matter # of days in the month). So your billing date would be different each month. I set up auto payment with them and end up (1) got my service disconnected (2) double bill, all because the billing date fall on a Sunday.

What phone did you get, Brad? Do you know what are the non-Wind zones in the GTA? I live in Mississauga. Thanks

Sounds good, but as a iPhone lover, I guess it doesn't apply to me.

Thanks Brad. I was thinking it might be time for me to join this century and get a cell phone. I don't mind paying a little more upfront for one, but don't think I will use it enough to warrant $50 or more per month!!! This deal looks pretty good to me, thanks for sharing it.

Actually, I have a confession. Before coming here, I went to ask google what phone/provider has the cheapest plan. Then I realized, WAIT, I bet my fellow SCers already have this covered! Who needs google . . . lol

I contacted WIND about their proposed Halifax coverage and only heard back today. The email simply said "We have forwarded your inquiry to a WIND specialist." Hmm..... if it takes almost a month to get a reply like that, makes me wonder what the actual customer service would be like for WIND customers.

Wind coverage in the GTA has been great, at least all the parts of the GTA that I go to (from Markham to downtown). No idea how coverage is in Mississauga but I was in Waterloo recently and coverage was good there, and I was in Windsor about 2 months ago and coverage was good there too despite Windsor not officially being a Wind zone yet. If you take your phone to the US you roam on T-Mobile's network.

I don't know about customer service as I have never used it except once when I switched plans.

Mississauga has some blackspots but is generally great.

I travel home on the GO and lose signal around Ikea in Etobicoke, again at the Miss/Oakville border for about a min each
