Has anyone built a Sun Jar?

I'm looking to build my own sun jar. I have all the main pieces but where I'm stuck is on how to get that nice yellow-orange glow. a few ideas i thought of:
-painting the bulb with a highlighter (how long will that last?)
-use a small piece of translucent film and cover the bulb (where to find this and how much will it cut down on the intensity?)
-use translucent film and line the inside of the jar (?)

I also wish I could drop the led bulb down a few cm just to give the illusion that the light is coming from the center of the jar. Sadly I don't know how to accomplish (nor do i know how to use a solder gun)

For the colour, perhaps using paint intended for stained glass might work? Neat idea! I would love to make a few for camping.
