Cancer moves in quietly & always without permission,
It is the goal of its victims to send it into permanent remission,
It is cursed, it is merciless, it invades so invasive,
It is harsh; it is cruel, so savage & abrasive,
It has no shame, no mercy & it cheats victims of all ages,
So we must pick up the gauntlet as it quietly rages,
It can make one so angry, so feeble & entirely ballistic,
But it can’t steal your hope & your trust to remain optimistic,
We all know the story & the many chapters in the cancer story,
& it has nothing redeeming & if has no glory,
But, it can be fought & discussed, as it needs to be vented,
& the sorrow we feel is justifiably lamented,
Incredible people who are merely living their lives,
Are so caught off guard, as uninvited it arrives,
Goodhearted people, our family, our neighours & beloved friends,
All wishfully longing for cancer to please make amends,
One cannot endure this albatross from way back in the bleachers,
So many variances & types with many different features,
Keeping the hope, the faith & sharing your dossier with others,
Helps keep you sane & hold onto your druthers,
Don’t think about blame, or fuss about fault,
I’d like to triple lock that monster securely in a non opening vault!

Hi Loocie. I am a NEWBIE to this Q107 thread. But by going through the posts I concluded that you have cancer, which is really ashame. I'm sending you some of my positive feelings and hugs and love to help you through your time of need. I sympathize with you after living through it with the love of my life, with Hodgkins disease Lymphoma which took him from me. Man did he ever suffer for 8 months. What a trooper he was. He was at St Mike's in Toronto. They were so good to him and loved the fact that I was there for him all the time. We would cuddle in his little bed and watch movies they said no one else ever did that we were so in love, unconditional love which from a man ( other than family or animals) is rare but we had it. He had a whole class of students learning about the affects that the cancer had on his lungs. His lungs were weakened by heavy ciggie smoking, which I have never ever even tried.Thank God. Hill also breathed in Lime dust which contributed to his messed lungs. Anyway the students took turns listening to his lungs and asking questions. I was overwhelmed by this but Hill just accepted it and said if it can help others it is worth it. What a man. I gave up my life to live with him on a cot for 4 monthes next to his bed at the hospital. I think I was brought to this man to get him back with his family from NFLD. He got to make peace with his whole family got his mom and dad and his son and daughter, his bros and sis's to Toronto. I feel stronger from the experience but man was it hard to keep the positive energy but I did it. I even had to pull the plug. I was his next of kin. Not his fam. He hadn't been in touch with them since the early 90s. At least he passed on surrounded with love all around him. I have never loved a man that much. I miss him everday and he passed 7 years ago. Never to be forgotten.I know I will be with him again when it's my time. To get me through without crying everday I picture him on a giant veranda in a rocking chair, chilling the beer in a giant cooler waiting for me, watching a never ending sunset with all our loved one's humans and pets who have passed on. Just want to say I am sending you My strength and love to help you through your time of need. You will survive this I am confident of this. Keep the positive thoughts. My prayers are with you.
