    hi!

My brother and sister in-law need to get a cheap pre-paid cellphone for their 7 year old son to keep in touch for schooling or emergency contacting purpose only!

They were thinking between Petro Canada Mobile and 7-Eleven Speak Out Wireless, which one to get?

I/they know it runs off if rogers network and that 7-Eleven Speak Out Wireless all pre paid cards are 365 days.

which customers is better between the two?

in our area, 7-Eleven stores are further away and Petro-Canada can be easily found .... I know we can buy minutes voucher online but my parents will be all confused purchasing online so i prefer to be able to buy in store.

My friends like the 7-Eleven product.
I don't know the Petro Canada product.

There was a thread about the 7-Eleven product:

My son used the 7-Eleven for years, it was his first phone at 16 and used it just til recently. He's almost 21 and decided he wanted a smartphone.

I don't know much about the Petro Canada plan, either. My son liked the cheap texting plan for the Speakout. Kids don't usually call much, it's mostly texting.

Also, my son never ever had any trouble with the phones - all were great from the very basic model on up, plus they always have deals on phones/minutes.

If it's for emergency contact only, then definitely the 7-eleven plan. They're both pretty comparable (neither have any issues), but the 7-eleven plan lasts 365 days.

    7-eleven minimum cost for 365 days (100 minutes): $25 + $10 sim card + tax
    Petro-Canada minimum cost for 360 days (300 minutes): $75 + $15 sim card + tax

There was a promotion I think last week (or the week before that) where if you bought a Toronto Sun, you could get a PC Mobility sim card for $3. Unfortunately I think the promo is over.

I think 711....don't hear much about the Petrocan one.
I have been using 711 for over 5 years and my son had his for just over a year also for emergency use.
