lol - I know, Jake does the same with some things he's afraid of. (he's only 17 lbs) The only thing I can't console him from is fireworks. They terrify him, and he can't find a safe, quite, hiding place. I feel so sorry for him.
yes fireworks also does it for Rufus as well. I still wonder how people around here have money to burn on those things, many are set off in the park across from us. I mean it can be a good show, but as you say the poor pups in the vicinity.
Oh, you two so remind me of our last baby!!!! Our last fur-baby, Tammy, a cinnamon and white border collie could not be consoled during thunder and omg, fireworks, terrified her. Nothing I could do helped, she just vibrated!
Jenny? Not a fearful bone in her little body. She thinks she's a great Dane, ready to face down anything and everything!
As for washrooms, sigh....she trots in behind me and sits by the door until I leave. I always say, "Yes, Jenny...girls who pee together stay together..."...:) Evidently she believes me....

That's cute Lynn.
Some time ago, the vet gave me a cd of sounds - a baby crying, fireworks, vacuums, thunder, sirens, trains, gun fire, ............. The idea is you play it every day while playing with the dog. Day 1, you play it very softly, and increase the volume a little each day, until you get to the point that it's so loud, you can't stand it. What's suppose to happen is that within about 2 weeks, they get use to it, & think it's just part of everyday life. Hence, no fear.
I used it when I 1st got him, because he was afraid of everything. I think it may be time to pull it out again, at least when he's feeling better.

Hi everyone! Came here to tell everyone that i am studying and i am craving french vanilla from tim hortons. (No, i am nit pregnant. Non-pregnant people are allowed to use the word "craving"). Lol.
Oh...did i tell you that my math assessment is on Tuesday June 16th. I am very ill prepared right now. I have only 2 more days to prepare for my test. :omg:
Mu daughter has found another new game. She keeps playing with my hair and doesn't realize that it's hurting me. She is playing with my hair crazily right now.... :(
And what's going on with all your fur babies? Why are they scared of fire works? And if they are that much scared then why are you going to the fireworks? Just stay home and watch it on tv. ;)
Good luck on your math test, I'm sure you'll do fine.
Re: fireworks; I don't take mine, but you can't help but hear all the bangs in the house. With all the neighbourhood getting together in the park, they go on for hours.
amira, you are adorable!! No none of us are taking our pets outside. These fireworks are being set off very near our own homes ( in parks and stuff ) and the very loud bangs and whistling sounds carry and they sound like they are right in the backyard! This can start anywhere from 6:30 p.m. on the Friday of a holiday weekend right up till midnight of the Monday! We have even had young teens on our street lighting the ends of Roman Candles ( that is a long stick like firework ) and they each hold one letting them shoot the fireworks out as they go..... sometimes at each other, often shooting it near the vehicles on the street. Mother nature we have no control over, but these ridiculous fireworks are a pain if you have a dog that suffers needlessly for it.
Also you know dogs hearing is very sensitive right? They can hear things us humans cannot, so anything that is a little loud to us is VERY harsh and unbearable for them. Yes, fur babies, that is what they are.
Lol.....what they said..:) We live close to a park also, and although fireworks usually go off there on one night, kids all over the neighbourhood and their parents, esp on long weekends, set the things off from Friday through Sunday evening! Our poor Tammy suffered horribly from them and all we could do was hold her while she vibrated, or else she sought shelter in the basement. I have no idea why Jenny doesn't even react a tiny bit to the things! The heart of a Great Dane...although the one Dane that I know is a kitten at heart!
Good luck on your test, Amira...what course are you taking? I must have missed that....as for hair pulling...now you know why many moms have short hair, lol!! Maybe a pony tail would hurt less?
Today is our Grandson's 7th birthday...and his "family" b'day party today....oh, I hope he likes the quilt I made for him and the card I painted for him with his "blue morpho" butterfly on it!! I called him this morning to wish him a happy birthday and he's so excited for us all to be there....he's a doll!! But where on earth are the years going??!!! I'm old! I don't want them to go that fast!!:yikes:
Have a lovely day everyone...stay safe...hope it's sunny where you are!
Happy Birthday to your grandson Lynn. I know he'll love the quilt - he loves his gramma doesn't he.
Where DOES the time go.

Hello everyone and thanjs for explaining why your dogs are scared of fireworks. We never had pets so i don't know anything about their care and their likes/dislikes etc. But wow..... where are those places where you live? I have been living in Canada for 7 yrs now but i have never heard any fireworks from our house. The only one time we saw/heard fireworks was when we went to Niagara Falls in Ontario.
But i have to say that we have been living in very small towns because of hubby's job. And these small towns are very dull and boring. We are now used to living dull, boring, secluded life.
But the wonders of living near forests.....there is a black bear (i am not racist! It is really black!) bugging us here. First it was seen behind our military gym, it was seen walking near jogging tracks. There were warnings everywhere about how to react when you encounter a bear. Now it has been seen near our local Vancouver island college where i am planning on getting an admission. So clearly he has a crush on me and he has been following me. Lol.
Lynn, my hubby has advised me That business administration certificate (1 yr online course) is the best suitable option for me. And he is saying this because he has seen me budgeting, and everything about finances and he thinks, after getting my certificate, i should study finance etc. So what that means is, i'll complete my certificate first, and it can be extended to a diploma if i complete my 2nd yr too. And if i complete my 3rd and 4th yr i'll get a degree too.
This online course is an experiment for now. Hopefully I'll be able to study from home if my kids let me.. :icon_scratch::neutral:
Then we'll decide what to do next once i finish this certificate.
But for now, i have to pass my math and English assessments at this college. I have been out of my "studenthood" for....ummmm... i would say 8 yrs now. So it's definitely taking a little longer than I expected to review all these Mathematics basic concepts. And i am not talking about addition, subtraction etc.
Amira, no pets ? Sounds like you have a pet bear. lol (be careful)
Good luck with you studies. I know how hard it can be after being out of it for awhile. I went back to school after being out for about 10 years. I too had 2 kids, and a part time job. Believe me, it wasn't easy, but if you put your mind to it, you can do it.
I don't know about on-line studying, wasn't invented when I went back. LOL
eek! a bear amira? That would keep me indoors most days. I hope they can sedate him and move him elsewhere soon.
