i've never been away from my kids either. i feel guilty going to dinner with DH.. and even still i can count on 1 hand how many times in 4 years we've done that.
i feel for you, it's a tough call. we drive to my inlaws farm which is 3 hours away but when you add in potty trips, lunch, etc its more like 4.5 hours. 20 would be h-e-double hockey sticks.
i'm sure family would love to see them however, i'm sure they'd totally understand travelling that distance with kids is not easy/fun.
Kids need the time away from their parents too.
It gives them the ability to enjoy time with other people besides their parents....to live and learn new things.
It also allows them to develop a sense of independence.
A weekend away is not for you, but for them too....and your mom who is going to have a blast and enjoy spending time with them.
Go for it.
And if you don't.....tell your mom she can adopt me ;) loljk

Yes, my mom offering to babysit is so amazing! Turns out she's off for a week at the time. My kids love her so I know they'll have a ball.

not too mention if you take your laptop and have skype you can talk to them everyday.

How's your mom at Skyping? Lol. There would be no hope for mine with that...FB is a stretch for her on a good technology day. I agree with iforgets sentiments about time away being good for your kids too. We have a wedding in June and I think we are ready for our first overnight away. It is easy to leave my kids for an afternoon, but overnight is stressful to think about.Quote:

They told us it was a 20 hour drive but when I looked it up last night on google for directions it said 25 hours and that's without stops! Oh boy! I dont even want to be in the car for that length. lol.
I'll just book the rooms and try and forget about it until the week before. Otherwise I'll stress for months over it. lol.

Good Morning everyone. Hope you all have great weekend plans and enjoy the warmer weather most of us have been having. I'm sooo exhausted. Playing nurse, mommy and cuddle monster to our tiny Maggie. I got like 2 hours sleep in the past 36 hours. Been sitting up with Maggie trying to make her feel better. I posted an update in the thread in the pet section, along with a oh so cute of her laying on a toss cushion yesterday. Today, I really want to go out to an antique show, but I'll see how Maggie is feeling in a bit because I want to take her and Marley with us.
Here is the picture I promised the other day. It's of the sweater I made of a baby sock for Maggie. Sorry for not posting it sooner, along with not updating everyone on yesterdays vet visit. Holly, your babies are perfect. Have fun at the market. We are having a low key, unmotivated Sat. Cold weather, mat leave ending in 5 weeks, equals some lazy days up ahead.

oh Holly.. squishies from me.. they so so freakin adorable. Marley has taken to be quite the 'mommy'..love it.
well busy morning here. ds2 is working on his room, hubby and ds1 are heading out soon, im tackling laundry, cleaning the house. tomorrow is garbage night after a week, its going to be a huge pile.

evening everyone. i'm so tired. dd1 had a nightmare last night so she was up for 3 hours and had to be put back to bed 7 times. then we had gymnastics at the crack of dawn, plus just having a busy saturday. my eyes are barely staying open.
hockey is back on so DH will be watching that tonight, think i'll just surf SC for a bit then hit the hay. promised the girls we'd take them out for breakfast at 'wimpys diner' tomorrow so that'll be another early one. have a great saturday night!
Hubby was a sweetie and went outside in the freezing cold to make us steak :love:

Morning everyone. The market was great yesterday. We got some fresh organic potatoes, tomatoes, watermelon, green onions and lettuce. We bbq's steak last night too and had a fabulous salad :) Doggies are all doing fabulous. Miss Maggie went outside for a walk yesterday afternoon, it was so warm when we got back, 76 degrees, she loved it. Of coarse we don't have a collar or leash, nothing will fit her yet, not even a kitty collar, but oh my gosh, she's quite a little walker, lol.

So annoyed that I forgot to get bread while grocery shopping. Now I have to drag 2 kidlets out for bread in these crazy winds. ugh.
Hoping it dies down soon and I can go and get back quickly. lol
Was walking around work shopping after my shift this morning and the night manager for our side see's me and says thanks for all your help last night. Meh I did alright lol but it's nice to be recognized. ;)
I absolutely hate when that happens. So often I will forget something important like milk, bread or eggs, but ALWAYS manage to remember the things I don't need :lolsign: I've learned over the years and now, I will not leave the house without a list of what I need at the store, even if it's only 3 things. The hardest thing for me now is to remember to bring the list :PQuote:
