It is nice, not too hot feeling yet because there's a nice breeze coming in.
Just saw on FB that one of our nieces from Serbia got to see Pope Francis yesterday in Sarajevo - so very special!
Look at all the people!

Dan!!!! Back from your honeymoon!!!!!!!! How was the wedding?! Where did you two go on your honeymoon?!!
Inquiring minds need to know!!
Welcome back!!
Just a quick note this morning...off to see my surgeon this morning to report on the pain and then probably an x-ray, then another appointment, then a surgery date to take out all the hardware...6 more months of recovery...gah!!!!
I hope everyone has a safe, sunny day!!!!
Attachment 284544 Good morning everyone!
Good morning every1.
Welcome back Dan. :)

LoL, ask all the questions you'd like, and I'll answer :)
Aww, nice to be welcomed back :) thanks Lynn and Hicks.
Had a great time away from the business of everyday business.
Honeymoon was absolutely amazing. Hot and Sunny St. Lucia :)
Turned off the cellphone (other than WiFi for Skype calls home), resort was completely and utterly geared towards couples (love, couples activities, dining for two, romantic turn down service every night ;)...absolutely amazing...we'll definitely be going back to this place!
Lynn, hope you're not it too much pain, hardware coming out is a good thing though. Means you're well on your way back to yourself again!
Good morning!
Good luck, Lynn!
DAN! Tell all! Puh-lease!!!
Well, it was SO hot in this house last night, took hours and hours to try to get to sleep.
Not looking forward to it hitting 30 and maybe over today... Sorry to those of you who love the heat, I am NOT one of them.
Had a great visit with our kid last evening - gosh, I love him to pieces! :)

Well, home from the surgeon's office...she booked me for June 25th for my hardware removal, perhaps an overnight, but just a bandage going home and as much pressure walking as I can stand. That'll be some 45th wedding anniversary present this year! LOL!!! Well...two days early, anyway...:)
Nat, got in on that freebie, THANK YOU! I never see anything worthwhile when I check those sites!! :sweet:
Dan, I'm so happy you had such a lovely honeymoon...our DD and her hubby love those couples' resorts, too; nice to be spoiled, isn't it?
Country-chic wedding, in a "renovated" barn. Too many little details to name. Most of the design and decor was created and laid out by the wife (gotta get used to saying that) and I. SO many DIY projects over the past year, researching designing, creating, implementing...
Days leading up to the wedding were really windy, rainy, and crappy out, but Mother Nature was watching out for us and cleared up the weather on our day and the day afterwards too!
We had a day of coordinator making sure all the details were met and things ran smoothly.
Everything went off without a hitch!
Everyone seemed to have a great time, lots of compliments on things...
Some of the catering staff asked about purchasing a lot of our "vintage style" dishes and things for her own side business
the venue owners were so impressed with the Band we hired, that they booked the band the next day for their daughter's wedding coming up.
Our Photographer duo was blown away by the details of the entire day, and want to submit our wedding to Wedding bells Magazine!
(you'll see some "Barn Weddings" on the site...not to toot our own horn, but those weren't Barn Weddings...ours was IN THE BARN)
Reception was in the barn, everyone had a blast.
"Sunday night country dinner" style meal: chicken, prime rib, along with vegetarian alternatives, mashed potatoes, roasted seasonal veggies, salads, cheesecake for dessert with home made fruit sauces and toppings
open bar, poutine bar during the late night...
campfire...
so much...so much...
I'm jumping all over the place...
we did a first look before the ceremony...
a tad hungover the next morning, during brunch with family and friends no less...
then there was the clean up and tear down afterwards!
SO MUCH STUFF WENT ON!
Thanks Walks :)
Lynn, happy to hear that you'll be hardware free soon!
ummmm.....YES! SPOILED ROTTEN!
I don't think we'll be able to go to just the standard all inclusive places anymore...well for now...guess you kind of have to take little ones on vacations too right (when they eventually come along...not just yet)?
Dan, it sounds absolutely wonderful!
I know the wedding was only one day - the marriage is forever - but the girly-girl in me still wants to know about all the stuff.
What kind of ceremony?
What were the colours?
Her gown? Did you men go more laid-back?
Oh heavens no, Dan...they get dumped onto the grandparents! And the grandparents and grandkids get in a lot of bonding time, which is absolutely fantastic!!!
And yes...we all went to Disneyworld last year, and this year they took him to Boyne Mi for almost a week, with friends...they've been to Great Wolf Lodge with him...
So the best of both worlds yet to come for you two!!
Your wedding sounds like it was so personal to you both rather than something to impress others and those are the loveliest memories I have of my 5 years of performing marriages...although you did manage to impress everyone!!
Do you both incorporate vintage into your own home decorating?
We had a civil ceremony. Our officiant was Jennifer Brown, of All Seasons Wedding Ceremonies. outdoors, the the barn as our back drop. cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the garden area immediately adjacent, reception inside the barn
Colours were white and "Tiffany Blue" (Teal)
Her dress was custom made (Vici Taylor, Hamilton area), I wore a charcoal grey suit with teal tie and pocket square.
We didn't have a wedding party, so I was just her and I.
We had personalized ties and pocket squares, for all the Gentlemen, and hankies for the Ladies of our families, all in teal and white to match our colours, just to differentiate them from the rest of the guests.
That's the plan! nana and papa, as they have already claimed, will spoil our little ones rotten, while we're away...that's what Grandparents are for, right!?
Lynn, I can't even begin to tell you how personalized each and every detail was to us.
Our guest favours, where half quart jars of homemade jam, that the Lady and her mom made, my favourite, strawberry rhubarb; and her grandmother hand made each and every crocheted doily to tie atop the jars.
We may live in the city, but you wouldn't know it by the way in inside of our place is decorated and our collection styles.
She's a country girl, born and raise, so you just can't get that out of her blood.
We both enjoy collecting and decorating with warm, vintage, homey pieces.
Dan, everything sounds like it really was your fairy-tale wedding for both of you...as for the strawberry rhubarb jam, omg...I make my Mom's strawberry rhubarb pie and I think it's one of the most amazing things on the face of the earth!!! :) And her Grandmother crocheting the doilies to top the jars?! Lordy...there are almost no words for how precious that is! I hope people appreciated the work that goes into them!
You still 'sound' like you're on top of the clouds; that's okay, don't ever come down!!
As for spoiling the kids..um, not in this family! LOL! I promised our DD the day she told us they were expecting a baby that I would never, ever go against their rules and/or wishes for their little one, and I never have. I've heard horror stories about kids who get candy, treats, have no rules at Grandparent's homes, then the kid gets dumped back home and the parents have to deal with the candy-highs, have to tame the wild behaviour that was allowed to happen...I never wanted to give our Daughter and SIL that kind of stress. When we hand back their son, he's just as sweet as when he was dropped off....and very well-fed, lol!! I mean yes, we do special things with him, but no rules are broken..it's just not fair to the parents.
And as for birthdays, etc, they had a 2 gift limit always. It made it difficult to decide sometimes, but in the end, he still had more than enough for any little kid among the two sets of grandparents, the parents and two sets of uncles and aunts!
Things to think about, huh? And you thought the fun was over!!! Hah! :tongue3:
:flowers: :sweet: :hug::cheesygrin:
Dan, that sounds so amazing. Congratulations again to you & your bride.

Hey, the notifications are coming through again, finally. :)
Dan, all you describe is absolutely fabulous, and extra-wonderful with all the handmade touches!
They are the things which truly make the day special!
thanks for all those details dan! It all sounded so elegant, but had the Country touch too. Well done!
Rhubarb / strawberry jam, my absolute favourite. yum
Lynn, I'm happy that your surgery date has been booked. I know it won't be a fun time, but it's a huge step towards feeling better. Hang in there; you don't have too long to wait.

good luck with your surgery, lynn. the end is in sight! :)
