No, the title is not the world's longest typo.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper was in New York City Thursday night to receive an impressively named award — the World Statesman of the Year — bestowed by a U.S.-based inter-faith group.
In a speech salted with reminders about Canada's partnership with the United States and other "like-minded" nations, Harper told a black-tie crowd he was accepting the honour not for his own qualities, but "on behalf of the unique and magnificent country I have the privilege of leading."
Canadians, he said, are "fiercely proud" of having a reputation of living in a peaceful and culturally diverse country that boasts a competitive economy.
The Appeal of Conscience Foundation, which organized the award, campaigns for religious freedom and human rights. The group says its World Statesman Award is meant to honour “heads of state who have exemplified their commitment to freedom, human rights, peace, and respect for religious and ethnic diversity, and endeavor to advance these essential democratic values on the international scene.”
Previous recipients include former prime minister Jean Chrétien, former French president Nicolas Sarkozy and former British prime minister Gordon Brown. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

It may seem hard to imagine, but outside Canada, Steven Harper is viewed very favourably. Everyone else is falling part, Canada is the symbol of stability and the envy of the world.

Prime Minister Harper is the best leader in the world, very proud to have him represent Canada.

As most of the media has reported, this award is pretty much a slap in the face to Canadians.
"Harper won the award largely because of his support for Israel and his criticism of Iran.Clearly, though, the foundation either blatantly ignored or didn’t know that Harper is arguably the worst prime minister in history when it comes to defending democracy and human rights in Canada.
Indeed, Harper’s record of abuse of democracy here at home over the past few years makes a mockery of his award as Statesman of the Year"

Well I admit I like Harper. I used to not, but the standards have changed in the last few years, compared to other leaders, Steven Harper looks awfully good these days. I'd run for Prime Minster myself, but I am sure lots of stories would get to the press about me (nothing dirty, no drugs
