I just can't help but feel "bad" or like he's "behind" on his eating skills though. He eats the baby cereals like oatmeal and whatnot. He eats pureed fruits, veggies, and he's on the 8months+ baby dinners which is mashed but has chunks in it instead of just pureed. He does eat those mum mum cookies. I've tried feeding him chunks of banana but he just made faces like it was gross and then threw it all up. I've tried other chunks of fruit but he didn't care to eat them and just spit it out and played with it. Do you think it's okay to just keep feeding him the jarred food? Or should I be really pushing him to try and eat more chunky food? Also, my husband and I don't always eat the healthiest some days, so I feel like at least if he's eating the jarred fruits, vegs, dinners, at least I know he's getting proper nutrition instead of what we eat some days. Your thoughts??
Dont worry MeShell....my DD didnt get teeth till she was a year old...i fed her the purreed stuff past that as well ...also try pasta and bread

Awww don't stress. He's only 9 months old. My almost 9 month old just got his first tooth a couple weeks ago and I still feed him purées and mum mums and the basic stuff. We're easing into the more chewable options too but I have no problem breaking out the apple sauce if need be. Everyone is different. As long as he's getting the nutrition he needs, I don't think it's a big deal.

Also I talked to our family dentist a few weeks ago at my 3year olds appointment and was told that late blooming teeth are actually better most of the time as they tend to be healthier so woo hoo for Owen....and my older 5 month tooth sprouter is screwed haha.

there are 3 neighbors so far who have trees up already. i told a neighbor the other day i'd be putting our's up on the 23rd.. she was like oh in a week or so.. NO December 23.. she was like WHAT!?.. yep. after last year.. no way. i went through 5 HUGE rubbermaid boxes of stuff.. and we had 2 TWO! people in our house the whole season. besides us. his mother and a neighbor who was 5 feet in our door. so the 2 footer is IT this year.

Wow, lots of you!! Lucky! The closest one to me is Bear25....she's 30 minutes away. dlee would be almost two hours away from me. chesterjes would be like 2 and half hours away from me. RSAS would be like a two hour drive and then a ferry ride and drive away from me! And unfortunately out of any of those places, I rarely or never go there except for Bear, where I try to go shopping in Chilliwack every two weeks.

Thanks for the advice ladies. I know you shouldn't "compare" babies, but my husband's cousin's baby is a month younger than my son, has teeth, and the mom is the type that makes all her own baby food and he's been eating solids for quite awhile now. Grr. But thanks, I do feel better now after what you two said :D

My personal opinion is...It will all come in due time, don't rush him
Consider the choking risk if he doesn't have the teeth to chew it yet. I know it can be stressful if you feel that they are behind, but it is not very likey that he will be starting school and still only eat pureed foods. Let them be babies as long as you can! In another month or two (which will FLY by!) you will be thinking, Oh my goodness! You are a toddler already; where did my baby go?!
Take it while you can get it! It goes by WAY TOO FAST!
