hi all,
I bought 2 box of Belvita breakfast biscuit: banana&chocolate flavor and blueberry flavor.
and the grocery store charge me tax(13%) on the banana&chocolate flavor. (ontario)
I really don't know should it be taxable or not...
anyone can help?
Thanks. This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by yukito; Tue, Oct 9th, 2012 at 12:56 PM.

Normally there is no tax on foodstuffs that are considered unprocessed/staple items. You will pay tax on junk food and the like (chips, sugary drinks, etc.), as well as things like granola bars, so I think cookies fall on this list. I can't say for sure, though, as I don't normally buy cookies.

Cookies that are sold in a bag or box at a grocery store are not normally taxed in Ontario. If you buy a cookie at Tim Horton's or Subway, that are sold individually, those will be taxed.
