Check the Yellow Pages. Or download an antivirus program like Avast (free).

Depending on the virus, installing an anti-virus after the infection may not fix it. Check Norton's website for the name of the virus and they may already have a removal tool.
You can also try Trendmicro's housecall online scanner.

I also firmly believe in AVG Free

I wud try Mcaffe free online scan. It will offer a download tool which you install and scan your computer while connected to the net and help you:

Don't buy their Antivirus Suite - Go for "Avast Free" after you clean your machine.

In addition to running a virus scanner you may want to also try running MalwareBytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/). This is a free program that will remove Malware from your computer that virus scanners usually do not pick up. I usually run this program about every couple weeks or once a month. You can purchase the Pro version, but I would not recommend it. The difference is the free version you will need to manually run the program as you need it. The biggest challenge is remembering to run the program. Where the Pro version will automatically run/clean, no need to remember to run the program.

Another free anti-virus is Microsoft Security Essentials. I use this along with MalwareBytes and they both work well, especially when the kids or husband get themselves in Malware/virus troubles. Over all any of the free Anti-virus programs work well, its just a matter of what you prefer.

I would suggest that you find out what the virus is that you have. I know that last summer I got malicious virus called poisonivy. I did get it removed but then found out what it was and did a full wipe of my system.

It is important to make sure it is totally gone which can be difficult to do.( wipe all of your USBs as well if you use them) If you do anything like banking you want to be totally sure there is nothing on that computer that can steal your information

If it is a laptop you should be able to do a system recovery and put it back to factory settings. I have done this a number of times with my computers when I am in doubt.

When you have an infected computer it is possible for it to be spread to others in emails so it protects others as well.

One of my saying for my computers now is "if in doubt, wipe it out"
