Alright, I'll be the first to say it: WAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He should have resigned A LONG time ago. E-Health, Ornge and now the Power Plants? Yeah he had to go. BUT, it leaves me to wonder why he is resigning considering he's gone through the above pretty untouched. What is little Dalty hiding?

It has to be something in the latest release of papers for the power plants. It may be a good time to think about selling up and moving out of province.

McGuinty resigns and prorogues legislature
Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty has announced a surprise end to his tenure as Liberal leader, saying that it is time for his party to put a new leader at its helm.
The premier called an emergency caucus meeting Monday night to announce that he was stepping down.
"After 16 years as leader of the Ontario Liberal Party and after nine years as premier, it’s time for renewal, it’s time for the next Liberal premier," McGuinty said.
"It’s time for the next set of Liberal ideas to guide our province forward."
McGuinty, 57, has served as Ontario premier since 2003 and has led the Liberals since 1996.

Well I hate to say it folks but no matter who gets in we are all screwed. We have a new government in Quebec and they just went back on several campaign promises in the first few weeks. Politics never change they are all corrupt Conservative, liberal , PQ the whole nasty gang. Maybe McGinty is afraid the truth will come out about the construction industry in Ontario like it did here in Quebec. Not one level of government is untouched. It's a plague.

Something is definitely fishy here. By proroguing and stepping down to justify it, the confidence vote relating to the public-sector wage freeze gets avoided and the Liberals get to maintain their government, thus avoiding also an election. Also, usually when in prorogation any inquiry gets shut down as well - therefore allowing the Liberals the opportunity to avoid an immediate inquiry into the partisan gas plant fiasco.
Let's face it, Dalton McGuinty may be sneaky but he isn't a stupid man. Most politicians aren't.

The Conservatives likely would have supported the wage freeze legislation, they wanted some changes to it to make it go even further, but I imagine they would have voted for it as a starting point as they don't have the $$ for an election right now
