Homemade Window Clings


What You Will Need:
Pictures you can trace (or pictures you have drawn)
Puffy Paint
Wax Paper
Newspaper for under the paints
Maybe an old shirt if children are doing it.

Directions:
Decide what you want to trace.
Place wax paper over top of it.
Trace the picture.
Leave it overnight to dry.
Remove the next day and place on window!

Anna, what a great set of resources. Simply mindblowing. I think my next 25 weekends are set! Because my son is so addicted to the tablet, I allow him to play online toddler games on Jumpstart . I used to play their CD games as a kid so figured they're good. Nothing beats sensory activities though. How did you go about compiling this list? I want to try something similar with a different topic! Any advice would be great!

No-bake clay.

Here's what you will need:

2 cups salt

2/3 cup water

1 cup cornstarch

1/2 cup cold water

Mix salt with 2/3 cup water in a saucepan.

Stir and boil until salt dissolves.

Remove pan from heat and add cornstarch and 1/2 cup cold water and stir.

Sprinkle some cornstarch on a flat surface and roll clay into desired shapes.

Use a straw to make holes for threading.

Let dry overnight.

What you'll need

• Baking soda
• Vinegar
• Cornstarch
• Corn syrup
• Spouted mixing bowl
• Measuring cups
• Whisk
• Food coloring
• Ice cube tray

What you'll do


Measure out 1 cup of baking soda and pour it into the mixing bowl.

Very slowly pour 3/4 cup of vinegar into the bowl. Don't add it all at once or it may bubble over. Kids love watching and helping with this step!

Once the vinegar and baking soda mixture has stopped bubbling, use the whisk to mix the two ingredients together.

Measure out and add 2 tablespoons of corn syrup to the mix.

Next, add in 1 cup of cornstarch.

Whisk the entire mixture until it is well combined.

Using the pour spout, pour the mixture into the compartments of an ice cube tray.

Put a small amount of food coloring on the tip of a popsicle stick.

Use the popsicle stick to mix a different color of food coloring into each tray. Don't forget you can combine colors: red and blue will make purple, yellow and blue will make green, and red and yellow will make orange.

Once your water colors are mixed, set them in a safe spot to dry. Plan on allowing them to dry overnight, but it can take as long as 2 days before they are completely dry and ready to use.

Once your water colors have dried, they are ready to use just like the paint from the store, but without the mystery ingredients!

Step #1

Gather all of your materials: wooden rings can be found at most craft stores. If you can't find the unfinished ones, buy the wooden shower or curtain rod ones, all 3 " in diameter. Coloured ribbon is a must. I stuck with the primary colours (red, blue and yellow) for a couple and my favourite palette at the moment; pale pink, gold, black, mint and lavender. Please note: traditional Waldorf toys are plastic and chemical-free and as natural as possible. Hence the need to find unfinished or naturally stained rings that you could of course finish with beeswax on your own if you wished!


Step #2

Cut multiple strands of ribbon at your preferred length going by the height of your toddler. You don't want them tripping over and getting tangled up in their new toy! You can knot (doubled over) as many strands of ribbon as you want on your rings, however you do want to leave space for their little hands to get a firm grasp. Trim any uneven ends and gift to a little one you love. I've found my kids like one for each hand when they're dancing, twirling, waving, swirling, and jumping around.
