So I want to start a new thread to push everyone away from Shopper's and go to air miles. Maybe that will get their attention. They think they've got it made, especially now that this website posts on the SDM facebook page all the gime!
There are those of us who have no issues with shoppers, and also have not been affected by, nor participated in any of the recent promo disasters.
While it's terrible to read about problems others have had, it's really an individual choice to continue to shop there or not.

Airmiles (at least outside the Safeway shoppers) will never replace SDM for points and they know it, plenty of people have been ripped off by Airmiles too
I do collect Airmiles, but the promos are not to the extent that you can collect SDM - I get maybe $60 a year from Airmiles
Air miles is a shadow of what it was 5 years ago. No thanks.
AMs has significantly downgraded their redemption options over the past few years, and the new cash/dream rewards option is awful. I understand your frustration, but they're not really a better option in terms of usability, etc.
AIrmiles mastercard vs. optimum mastercard - won't really matter at all what you choose honestly. that's not where the points build up. It's the 20x points weekends, and bonus promos... Airmiles has nothing on optimum when it comes to that. Perhaps SDM will slow down on their goof ups with the chocolate bars, etc. But in the end, 20x points alone is well worth being an optimum member.
If anyone wants to switch Aeroplan because they think it's better. It's gone downhill too.
IF shoppers is penalizing ppl for paying using a manufacturer's coupon then they have every right to report them to revenue canada.
seriously. it takes 2 minutes to fill out an online complaint. if revenue canada is satisfied with the situation then fine, but really the way that SDM is singling out ppl for using a manufacturer's coupon, and accusing customers of getting something for free as if SDM is out some amount of money, SDM is just playing games and spreading untruths, and illegally accusing customers as if they are not paying for the item, when in fact the manufacturer's coupon is the payment. they can reduce the value of the coupon if it makes them happy, but to make up their own rules is not right. they can't bully and threaten customers for using manufacturer's coupons. SDM gets their money, we ALL know that.
Revenus Canada... make a complaint, it's easy to do so online, it takes a minute, it is worth having them look into SDM's accounting habits because everything they do is so upside down and backwards. I am convinced that they way they treat FPC's is just totally wrong, but that would be a whole new can ;)
sorry for the run-on ramble!
