Thread: P&G response to swiffer coupon

I, like everyone else, was excited to use the $4.99 off ANY Swiffer Starter Kit coupon found at Loblaws type stores...
However I was not excited about the possible rejection that I (and others) would and have received regarding the specifics of the coupon.
I know I will probably get "flak" for contacting company directly...but I was getting a bit confused as to why someone had not done it right away....I am very impatient if you can tell lol. I have sensed that in some of the threads that the intent of this blog is to coupon responsibly...so hopefully I won't piss off the people who try to pull a fast one on stores...because I think most folks want to keep us couponers legit.
Anyhow, I contacted P&G and explained that the coupon stated ANY Starter Kit but the coupon had only 4 pictures of specific products...I even sent attachment of actual coupon. Just to be clear...I e-mailed again to ensure that it was for ANY starter kit and this is the response I received...hope it helps.
Hi_____:
Thanks for your response.
The coupon can be used for any Swiffer Starter Kit that you wish to purchase.
Thanks again for responding.

UPDATE: Sorry so long...
I went back to the Loblaws that gave me the problem...and with my new knowledge (ok from P&G that coupon good for ANY starter kit) I picked up 4 boxes and went to the cash. I was kind of hoping that it would be the male cashier who had denied me the night before...you know...to stick it to him lol...but it was another lady who had no problem with it...however as she rang it in, instead of $4.99 it was $5 something...so I immediately got all excited, not in a good way, and I went back to the display and did what many of you have taught me (take a cell phone picture so they can't switch the ticket on you)...so I thought GREAT, I now get SCOP on one of the boxes...at this point, cashier needs to take bathroom break, so I go up to customer service desk and low and behold it is my "buddy" from the night before (acting manager who was doing cash the night before)...BUT the real manager lady is there with my buddy watching her from behind...I was just waiting for him to start yelling "hey she was here last night and I caught her trying to use fraud on the swiffer"...anyhow it turns out one of my boxes (the one the cashier rang in was a different SKU and therefore more expensive...so no SCOP. The manager lady tries to get me to use my coupons on the more expensive box saying I would be getting a better deal (I have no idea what she meant because it was the same number of swiffer dusters...just a dollar more) I politely said "no thanks, I would rather get them for free than have to pay extra. She was super nice and then explained how the coupons worked and that P&G were great because the store gets reimbursed for full amount no matter the price of product (ie) $2 product, store gets reimbursed $4.99...we had a chuckle over this all the while my "buddy" listening with his tail between his legs...and the female manager whispered that she would pass the coupon info on to staff. AND if I ever have trouble with a coupon again...just go to another cashier...my jaw dropped!! So...pretty good outcome in the long run...it would be great to have more cashiers/managers like this. This thread is currently associated with: LoblawsLast edited by lexisor; Thu, Apr 7th, 2011 at 10:48 AM. Thanks for confirming! I read somewhere in an earlier thread that someone else did call and they were told that P&G would stand behind the coupon if the store had any issues with it. I had a cashier reject it and I told her what I just typed and she then accepted it!

Whoops...thanks so much KellyC for pointing out that another person checked into it...see I told you I was impatient!!
If this is the case, then why are people still having trouble redeeming this coupon??...madness I tell ya!
I am going to try again at Loblaws with all of my backup.

I'm not sure why you would think it would upset someone to contact the manufacturer. I'm not sure how someone could "pull a fast one" with this coupon, but suspect you are speaking generally and not specifically
Many of us contact the manufacturer when there are issues with coupons, not because we are not appreciative, but rather because if coupons cause too much of a hassle where we like to shop it could be jeopardized. (Clairol foam for example) Awesome that you got clarification

Hey ypperin,
I know, I know, I don't know why I had all of that crazy rambling preamble to my post...not enough coffee and too many kids I think lol! I think, even though my question to P&G had a positive outcome...I was just recalling some responses to other people's questions say to Shoppers Drug Mart etc...where the answer is "not the answer we want" ie) spend $50 after coupon and get 20x points deal.
Well it is obvious I still haven't had enough coffee...or maybe too much...I am rambling again.
The response from P&G was really quite brief...which is why I e-mailed 2x to confirm the answer. Should I still try to pdf the response? I may be a bit computer challenged...but I could try.

I think its sad that you feel concerned someone would jump on you, but it does happen a little too often, and I can relate to how you feel - its getting so I hesitate to post most things. Its not that anyone has "jumped" on me personally, I just read too many posts that have a not so nice tone so I read more than I post. 99% of the people here are fantastic- its that 1% that makes me cringe.

Some grocery stores, I'd tell ya. Even in Manitoba they seem to think that whatever is in the picture are the only things you can buy even if the coupon says ANY...
Anyhoo, thanks for doing that! It really helps!Open for all coupon trades!

I shopped at the Newton,Surrey location(King George & 75th) today. I wanted to buy a Swiffter 360* starter kit for $4.99 and the tool belt advertised in the flyer. I had a manufactures coupon for $4.99 off any Swiffter starter kit and I was not able to use it since the picture did not match the product. It took four cashiers and the manager `Kevin` to read one coupon. I just don`t understand why the picture is so important. If the manufacturer put the pictures of all their Swiffter starter kits on the coupon it would be an 8x10. I left everything on the counter and went to the Scott Road location. They did not have the tool belt but I did pick up a Swiffter starter kit and used the coupon towards it. Still in search of the tool belt I went to the Walley Ring road store. They had the tool belt and Swiffter. I was able to pick up both items and use my coupon. I went back to the King George & 75th store and talked to the manager `Kevin` and explained that I went to two other store and they both allowed the coupon to be used. He wasted my gas and my time. I told him both those store are newer, cleaner and better organized and I will not be shopping at his store again.
I would really like some sort of coupon policy to be put into affect and that all staff at the King George & 75th store be retrained. If four cashiers and a manager can not read a coupon and need to look at pictures I think that that Canadian Tire is going to lose a lot more business then mine.
Sorry I just need to vent...
