If you are in Niagara Falls there are 2 new GPs. One started his practice today(I think) and the other will be starting hers in July.

I am just amazed at how many options the OP had, and that they had options at all. Jealous! We were on a waiting list for three years after we moved, until we were able to get a family doctor in our new hometown. Even then, we had to go through a screening process where they chose whether or not to accept our family as patients, rather than the other way around. The only reason we finally got a foot in the door was because I gave birth to our daughter, and she had to be assigned a general practitioner doctor doing hospital rounds to see her before she left the hospital. That doctor just happened to be at the one clinic where the waiting list was b3eing combed through, and accepted us for the screening process. She accepted the baby right away, but me, my husband and my son (7) had to submit extensive medical backgrounds and see a nurse at the clinic for vital checks before we were formally accepted as patients. I had the impression that we could be rejected if they so chose.
We are blessed with universal health care, but the lack of GPs compared to population, and the wait times for surgeries, specialists, cancer care, etc. are terrible in most places in Canada. BUT, at least we have walk-in clinics, and emergency rooms that we don't pay out of pocket for... for all the bad, there is a lot more good here.Last edited by bdkmosher; Mon, Jun 3rd, 2013 at 09:43 PM.
