Christmas is a very special time of year for me. Losing my mom to cancer at the age of 9, some of my favorite memories of her were her childlike happiness and excitement about decorating our home for the Christmas seacon. We were very poor, my mom, my sister and brother and myself in the family. We had nothing, but what we had we enjoyed. Christmas was always special, not the gifts, but the colours, the lights and the wonderful music my mom would play.

I love everything Christmas and can't wait to get started on the decorating and baking every year. I however, never decorate until the 15th of December. It's my birthday and has always been a family thing. We go out for dinner, then come home and decorate my home. I don't mind the playing of Christmas music, at any time, or people getting ready for Christmas when and where they choose. To each his own.

Normaly, here on SC, we keep all things Christmas until AFTER Rememberance Day, giving respect to this day. This year we have posted the Christmas gift exchange thread early due to the fact of the time frame for mailing parcels. We still respect November 11th, and always will. I feel those who want to abserve this day will, regardless of what is going on around them.

So Christmas music, it's a free country. If you want to kick up a stink, use your stink for something of real importance like child abuse, changing laws, helping the homeless, anything but when we start playing Christmas music....please!

This is just silly, people should worry about bigger issues and not that their local shoppers is playing Christmas music.

And yes I say Merry Christmas, I don't care if it is politically correct. And it is a CHRISTMAS tree, not a holiday tree. I find myself being bombarded with constantly being 'culturally sensitive' - but who is sensitive to my culture???? I respect that other people are celebrating different holidays, but you don't see me driving down Bathurst Street and demanding businesses to take down Hanukkah decorations.
