Not similar to swagbucks. It's a working site - as I call it. One works on tasks and surveys (yes TASKS).
I don't qualify for much surveys, however make good commission with referrals (there are no limit to the number of referrals you can have and they are yours as long as you are a member - which is SWEET), and I do like certain tasks which I've gotten good at with experience and time so that is my main money-maker with the bonuses one receives for completing $50 worth of tasks and there is a weekly task contest as well. I have upgraded to a premium membership (which costs #17 per year) to gain more money with a higher percentage on the daily checklist and referral commission.
There are no "bells and whistles" on this site - like codes or search wins or games - etc.
This site is one of the highest paying for tasks and surveys.
There are also ads to click on but that just gives pennies per day and a clixgrid which is just there for something to do and a game of chance.

Doesn't hurt to give it a chance and test it out - there are some tasks that come up which are easy, quick and pay good - then there are those which are just the opposite - one gets to know which are worth the time.

PS: since joining at the end of June of this year earned just over $720 ,

I agree with Heart that I would consider ClixSense to be a working site. I have been on Swagbucks for about 18 months. I joined ClixSense in mid October this year. There are not search wins, codes etc., but I have decided that in the end you are paying for those things with the lower pay for surveys, tasks etc. Presumably Swagbucks is taking a larger commission than ClixSense.

Payout is PayPal. I like this as I would much rather have something that is similar to cash and that I can do as I choose with, rather than a gift card to a specific company. I know Swagbucks has recently had a much better rate on PayPal, but presumably this ends at year end. There is a 2% fee here charged for the PayPal and payouts are every Friday and Monday with a $8 minimum (regular member) or $6 (premium members).

The clicking on ads just pays pennies and parts of pennies, so I would say at a minimum you want to be interested in doing surveys, and willing to do some tasks. The reason I say willing to do some is that there is a daily checklist bonus. If you meet it you get paid extra. To meet the checklist you do have to click and watch some ads, do some ClixGrid (watch some more ads--game of chance--doesn't pay very often), visit the forum, and either do 2 offers (primarily surveys), 10 tasks or a combination of 1 offer and 5 tasks. If you meet the check list you earn a 5% bonus (regular members) or a 12% bonus (premium member $17/year). By being willing to do some tasks, if you get one survey, you can then do 5 tasks in order to meet the checklist and earn the bonus.

I was a member here for less than a month before I decided to go to the Premium membership. I have been very happy with the decision. I used earnings on ClixSense to pay for it and have been very happy with the extra earnings and feel it was more than worth it.

I do some tasks but I am not the task queen that some are. I have learned some that I can do (and some that I can't). Getting paid more for the task to start with, earning another 12% for almost all of them (I almost always make the checklist) and then every time I get to $50 there is a $5 bonus for tasks, so that is another 10% makes it more worthwhile than elsewhere. By comparison, to Swagbucks 4SB casinos pay $0.07. Most 2 SB tasks pay $0.03 (relevance tasks are the ones I am thinking of). Others have larger or smaller percent differences. There was a Pantene relevance task that was paying 1SB today, while the same here was $0.03--plus the bonuses. If you do decide to become a major tasker there are weekly contests with bonuses for the top 10 taskers.

Most surveys also pay better. The SSI surveys that are offered by a variety of pages including PL for 30 usually, pay $0.85 through SSI. The PL surveys for 60 SB are $0.83 here. The daily surveys are $0.75 instead of $0.60. I don't qualify for tons of surveys, but certainly get some and appreciate getting paid more for them.

Here as well there is a not a limit on the bonus. So if you do the work and earn $10 you will get the bonuses based on that (not based on whatever the daily goal was). Work that your referrals do here pays very well and there is no limit (5% of their offers and task earnings for regular members and 10% of the same for premium members, plus some assorted other stuff).

I am currently using ClixSense as well as Swagbucks. My original intention was to stop trying to make goal at Swagbucks and move as much as possible of my task and survey earnings here. When Swagbucks dropped the price for redemptions at the beginning of Nov. I decided to continue to try to make goal there and earn what I can here. I will re-evaluate on Jan. 1, but I expect to focus my efforts more strongly here and use Swagbucks for the stuff that isn't here. I like that each day you start fresh--that bonuses are not dependent on whether you made goal everyday in the month. I can take a day or two or three off and not feel like I missed out in the same way. I like just earning as much as I can on a day when I have the time and inclination and not feeling like I should try to save something to make goal the next day and then perhaps missing the opportunity.

Everyone here is incredibly helpful and encouraging, so throw out more questions if you have them--although I have written a book, I have undoubtedly missed an important thing or two.

its clicking ads, clicking clixgrid for chance of winning up to $5. Doing offers (like signing up, surveys, watching videos, etc...) and doing tasks. Its free to sign up. I have upgraded since I try to do as many tasks as possible, and always trying to do surveys. If you can do alot, upgrade. If your not, save the money and just click.

Finally made the goal today. Been too busy the last little while, so have been missing the goal.
