Thread: Dollarama vs Dollar Tree
-
Wed, Nov 14th, 2012, 06:49 PM #1
So I was driving home one day and noticed that a Dollar Tree had recently opened up in our area.
I know they're a huge chain in the U.S. but thought I'd ask (just because I haven't had the chance to go there yet) how does the Dollar Tree in Canada compare with Dollarama here?
Better products? Cheaper products? Cheaper quality products?
Is it more similar to Dollarama or more Similar to A Buck or Two / Everything for a Dollar type of store.
Any insight would be great! thanks! This thread is currently associated with: Buck or Two, Dollarama

The items about the same all items are $1.25 or less, they have a good amount of name brand items. We don't have any in Montreal but go to visit family in Hawkesburg On they have 1 there

I'd say they are pretty similar in terms of quality etc. Although dollarama now carries more selection with $2 and $3 items.
I like the Dollar Tree more in the US. Haven't really found much in the store that just opened here and it's annoying that things are $1.25 instead of just $1.
Worth taking a peek though!

I don't like Dollar Tree much except for getting $1 Coke. They don't take coupons not there is anything we could use coupons on.It's practically all no name stuff.Dollar Tree in the U.S. takes coupons and has much more name brand stuff.Once again we get a second rate U.S. store in Canada.I like Dollarama better even with $3 items.

I prefer Dollarama, just because the stores are bigger.

I prefer Dollarama. I find the Dollar Trees in the States have way more brand name items... I went to one here and didn't see any brand name items. Dollarama always has brand names, and still have many of their items priced at $1 instead of $1.25.

Dollarama has more depth and provides a far superior shopping experience. Brand names are outstanding prices.

I've shopped at both. I prefer Dollarama because it has more selection, larger stores, never been disappointed with selection. I only visited one Dollar Tree. I didn't find the selection as appealing compared to Dollarama.
