They will give you the $ amount of what you spent on the item, regardless of the redemption value that you spent on it.

GC promo ends tomorrow but if you can buy cards for things you would be buying in the next little while anyway it is a great way to go. I picked up alot of gas cards for hubby.
Looking for FPC for almost everything. Growing teen boy eating me out of house and home. Visit my facebook page www.facebook.com/UneekCreations Will trade finished product from my Etsy shop.

Wow, I'm amazed at how much feedback I'm getting here! Ummm but one question...why is it bad to trade for points???? I just traded for 10, 000...The person sent me 5, 000 right away and then the other 5K she'll send when she gets my envie. There's also a couple of auctions going on....

Because the site is not secure, all it takes is your card number and your postal code (for example) - if you trade with someone for SDM points AND they also have your postal code for a snail mail trade at any point in time, you open yourself up to losing your points through theft, or SDM taking them away due to too many transfers (as they are aware that people were trading points before, and it's against the terms)

If you do decide to trade for points, Always use a secondary card for transfers to people you don't know personally! Never give out your main card Number. Once you receive the points, you can then transfer them to you main card. All someone needs is your card number and postal code to log in to your optimum account. Last year many people were robbed of their points just before mega redemption

I have a separate card I use to send transfers and I only transfer exactly what i plan to send onto it so there is never a balance left.

Or, lets say you were just about to head over to future shop and buy a 1000$ flat screen. You'd buy the gift cards first, and you'd have 56000 points just like that.

Another idea if money is tight is to simply stick with the 125$ redemption. Its actually not all that much more '$/point' when doing the 250 vs. 125.... The ones that don't make sense to do are the redeem for 10$ amounts...
Good idea for the gas I did the same thing except for the Future shop purchase if you are taking advantage of a credit card extending the manufactures warrany as it must be paid for in full by the credit card.

I saw that in your auction. I don't have a separate card. But I just changed the info for my card to my mom's address Thanks!

Some products have 20 x or 10 x bonus product points on them or other BP on them.

Buying them along with the 20 x Sat event and using lots of cpns to bring down your OOP , can rack up the points pretty fast

Also the GC promo is not bad where you get 8,000 BP for buying a certain $ of cards. You can buy multiple sets if you want.

Buy GC to places where you were going to shop anyways .

Have a fake postal code on your SDM account so that if someone comes to know your postal code and optimum number through trades , they won't be able to hack in and transfer all your points.

Log in and change that ..I changed mine

Something you might want to keep in mind: is it worth it?

If you're spending at least $150 just to get enough points to make it to the 95000 level, you want to be buying things you'll actually use - and not just things that will get you points. Otherwise, why not just use the $150 to buy what you want?

you would only be getting base points = 3000 points on that purchase... if 20x then yes, but 20x is saturday only, and the wii u is released sunday.

Perhaps many people are trying to rack up points so they can redeem for a wii u. That will be extremely difficult considering there won't be any stock on mega redemption day. If they had stock the day before, they would sell in a flash... no one will leave it on the shelf and hope they will still be there on a redemption day. My plan is to get one in a few months when stock isn't a problem... then i'll just redeem 170$ for it. pay the rest with the gift cards I got this week.

Nope, I never spend $ just so that I can get points. That's why I will not be buying the Biotherm cream, or the Wii. I have no use for those things. It took me a year to get 50 000 points lol. The only way I can maybe work it out is if I do an auction (with the changed info on my card). The pressure is on! :p
