Would you buy a 2013 Car? being "13" is an unlucky number?

Out of curiosity, anyone superstitious about buying a 2013 model car due to the "unlucky 13"??


So what is everyone's opinion of a car being 2013 and the "unlucky" myth?

I personally wouldn't buy a 20"13" car cuz I think it's unlucky

While I wouldn't live in an apartment on the 13th floor or in apartment 13, I'm not sure what the significance of 2013 would be. While it does have the number 13 in it, the number isn't actually 13. I guess that means that I wouldn't care about buying a 2013 car.

I doubt I'll be getting a 2013 car soon. So I won't be too worried about it for the foreseeable future.

In away there is "13" and many of them ... depend on how you say the year

I.E for 2013

1. Twenty Thirteen ..... There are 20 13s, twenty times the bad luck
2. Two Thousand Thirteen ..... so there is 2000 of 13s, two thousands of them ... super de-duper bad luck

But the reason I wouldn't buy a 2013 car is that it's just silly to buy a 'new' car these days - you lose so very much with depreciation.

My moms car was worth 35-40% after 3 months. With very little mileage. It was nuts! (she wanted to trade in and upgrade)

Yes I would buy a car in 2012, wouldn't bother me either. I have to agree with the new car thing though, I would buy a car thats a few months old because the depreciation is insane. I have only owned 2 brand new off the lot cars. I'm slow, I didn't learn the first time

I don't worry about lucky or unlucky numbers at all. I would live in house #13 on a street or live on the 13th floor, etc. (because really, if you live on the 14th floor and there is no floor labelled 13, you live on the 13th anyway.) The only reason not to buy a 2013 car is to wait until they are available used at a more reasonable price!

An interesting tidbit: both central office building for Statistics Canada (read: people who know about probabilities, math, etc.) and the new social sciences building at the University of Ottawa have a floor #13. I always got a smile out of how it didn't bother the StatCan folks (I used to be a security guard there), and now it's the criminology department in the UO building, so I guess they're used to deviance and 'bad luck'!

If you believe that, then you can do nothing in next year, as it is 2013. Also number means different things in different cultures

13 is my lucky number, so it would not bother me.

The way people are driving around me lately, looks like I may get a new one.
