I'm curious if either are reliable. We want to buy our daughter a disney fairies toddler bed but in my experience they don't carry that specific on in store (all though I still need to call and double check). I am thinking we need to order from either online but am worried since it is a big item and how reliable they are. I have had bad experiences with toysrus in general as a store so I am worried what they are like ordering from them. Walmart.ca seems to be fairly new so just wondering

I've ordered from all three multiple times with no problems at all.
However, never a big item - you might have to pay extra shipping, though.

It's the cheapest at sears $60, $70 at WM, $80 at TRU.
Go with sears! What I do is have it shipped to our nearest depot, then pick it up. Lucky it's not far for us, so it's not a big deal.

I will never order from Sears again. We ordered a change table, delivery in so many days (it was about 2 years ago, so I forget now how many). Well, the day they promised for delivery came and we didn't hear from them, so we called. They said they don't send a truck to our area until it's full, so we would have to wait. We said forget it then, we'll get a refund and order a different one from Costco. We got our money back, but they couldn't cancel the shipment. They would have to ship the product and when our Sears called to say it was ready to pickup, we would say we didn't want it and Sears would ship it back to the distribution center.
We had a similar experience with the crib as well and said forget that and bought it online at toys r us. Shipped on time to the nearest store, we just picked it up!

I have bought from Toys R Us online and it's true some items are exclusive to their website/store. Have had excellent service from them!

Thanks for the replies. I think I am going to order from sears. There is at least two pick up locations that are fairly close to were I am so I might do that and considering the bed is on sale this week at sears. Although I don't understand why the pickup location is not at the sears department store but a party/favour store instead? ~scratches head.
I tried calling the store yesterday but wasnt surprised that the phone just rang for like 2 mins before I gave up. I doubt they have any in store since I don't think I have ever seen toddler beds in store. Although I rarely go into sears since I find it so disorganized etc. I wish they did carry them though I hate ordering big things online

steen, our only Sears is downtown in a mall, and I hate going there.
Our nearest pickup place is at a drycleaners... another is at a pharmacy.

I've ordered from babies r us/toys r us LOTS. Super reliable.
Sears is the WORST. They lost my crib/baby bedroom furniture that was supposed to get picked up. Horrible customer service trying to resolve the issue. We had to pick up the 4 piecea over a span of 2 months (instead of getting it all in 2 weeks). Plus the furniture is shoddy quality. Overall, extremely unimpressed. I do everything possible to avoid shopping there.

i`ve ordered my daughter`s bed from walmart online.. it came quickly! and arrived right to my door (no need to go pick it up from a depot) this is an extra perk for me since it`s kinda hard to get a loft bed into a car lol
When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

I ended up ordering the bed from sears but only because when I went to actually do it it was on sale there with the canopy for $75 bucks. So i took a chance. I was reallly nervous that it would be late or lost or something but they came at the end of the day yesterday so I am relieved. Just in time for my daughters birthday! I had it shipped to the house since it was easier for me. I didn't want to go anywhere near the store and the drop off place is at a party store on the other side of town. It was only like 7 bucks shipping so I thought wth might as well try it.
I did order the matching bed set from wally world though since it was cheaper then sears and it came within a day or two! Really fast shipping. I would totally order from walmart online again
Midnightly I just have to add that I love your signature! I would take Eric Northman over Edward Culllen any day!!

I agree on Sears, I'll never buy a major piece of furniture or appliance from them again.
A few years ago my Mom was moving into an apartment that had no fridge or stove. I looked after that, and before I ordered online, I called to ensure they delivered to her area. They took the address, (allegedly) looked it up and assured me that they did deliver there.
The day of delivery, I hadn't heard from them for a delivery window. So I called. I hadn't heard when they were going to deliver it because the items were still in Toronto, and they do not deliver to where Mom lived. When I questioned why they told me they DID deliver there, they informed me that the call centre for the online sales is in the Philippines, and they don't know enough about Canadian geography to know. They didn't have an answer about why the person would answer the question when they didn't have enough knowledge to provide an accurate answer. In their defense, they did offer a discount, and delivered it to a local depot, after which we had to pay to get it delivered from there. They were supposed to reimburse us for that, but there were problems with receipts and they never did reimburse us.
We'd purchased fairly expensive leather furniture from Sears only a few weeks before this experience. If I'd had this experience first, I would never have bought from them.
Back to the original question - are you sure it's worthwhile to buy a toddler bed? My DS was bigger than most so our experience was surely different. But by the time he was two and moving out of the crib, he was tall enough that the crib mattress was soon going to be insufficient, and a toddler bed takes the same mattress. We had a spare double bed in our basement, we ended up just putting that in his room (he's nearly seven now and that's still his bed). We bought rails for it (not cheap!), and he had those for awhile to ensure he didn't fall out.
Anyhow, too late for this question, but maybe this will serve as a warning for future buyers!Last edited by Zonny; Fri, Mar 15th, 2013 at 07:30 PM.
