Today I was trying to find the "hot item" of the week. The Asus Galaxy Nexus 7 so I could bring my mother to get the " seniors discount" as I wasn't able to get a second one during the redemption weekend.
I called 1-800-Shoppers for help. I was informed that they are now keeping track of inventory for some items and they were very helpful and gave me inventory for a few stores in my area as of Dec 4th.
Now I consider that to be very helpful (good idea Shoppers, can we put that into the SDM app?) but I did run into a few problems.

    A. Some stores didn't know what I was talking about...fair it IS a specialty item and a new item for SDM.
    B. Some stores said they had none...until I informed them that Head Office just told me their inventory levels...Oh yes we have 4 ! (That's a bit "sketchy")

For those that are interested I was told the SDM (Don Mills and Lawrence area) should have 4 units and they did this afternoon at 3PM YMMV

As a brief aside a breakdown of 2 receipts and a lesson

Purchase Galaxy Nexues 7 During Bonus Redemption

    269.99 Base price
    .70 enviro fee
270.69 subtotal (why tax on tax is anyone's guess)
    35.19 HST

    210.00 Optimum Redemption

    Total 95.88 Out of pocket

Purchased today with Seniors discount and regular redemption

    269.99
    .70 Enviro Fee
54.00 senior discount (should only be 50 though that's the max )

    216.99 Subtotal
    28.17 HST
    -170.00 Redemption

74.86 Out of pocket ( and 12.20 in free stamps)

Lesson I am NOT going to stress about mega/bonus redemption if Seniors day offers this much value in the future!!!

The only small problem is that you need a senior to take with you (if you are not one yourself)!

So are you able to use your optimum card as long as you have the senior with you or do you have to transfer points to theirs and then redeem?

    Good job!
If only I can bring someone who looks like 65 with me to buy a WiiU or Nexus7 next time.

I got my Nexus7 in AB during redemption for 74.64. Quite happy about that.

Everything you can do with a laptop plus more when you install Android apps. CNET review is 4 out of 5. It's highly recommended if you're looking for "affordable" mini tablet.

DH has a Blackberry Playbook already and I redeemed my points last week for the Nexus 7. He prefers the Nexus so DS is getting a Playbook hand me down. The Nexus is full Google Android. The Playbook has 2 cameras, the Nexus has 1 camera. If you have the Nexus in front of you, the camera is facing you so you can do video conferencing, like a web cam. DH downloaded Sudoku so he's having fun. There's also Angry Birds. You can use wifi, browse the internet, listen to mp3, watch movies, use as e-reader. I posted on the other thread that you can watch youtube videos and there is no lagging and image is like watching on your computer. You can pair it with a Bluetooth keyboard. DH bought it at The Source for around $20.

There's also a GPS chip built in and DH says it's faster than his GPS.

Great that they know where the stock is, but I would call to confirm. I had a nexus 7 put on hold for me at two stores, so if you are relying on head office, you might be disappointed. My sons will not be disappointed on Christmas morning though

the nexus 7 has a kindle app available.

that was the main thing i wanted, cause i lost my other tablet which had kindle, and the BB playbook doesn't and it really sucked that i couldn't read my books.

the nexus is great, has my kindle, and i am happy
