I recently flew Montreal - Paris on air transat and experienced literally the worst flight of my life. I was in seat 4 - H just behind first class. The seat they put me in appears to have been installed late in the game because it is in the middle of the aisle which you can see on the photo I attached. I was constantly knocked by the flight attendents and by the curtain seperating my seat from first class. Since this was an overnight flight this was more than an inconvinence. I was in a short row of three screaming babies and beside a foriegn woman who appeared to have run a marathon without deoderant prior to the flight. It was the most cramped and awkward flight of my life. The flight attendents were completely rude and unsympathetic. I don't think that seat should exist...but if had to be there they could have apologized and tried to make my flight more comfortable. My return trip was lovely. Their flight attendents on that trip went above and beyond for everyone with a smile on their face. Honestly I don't know what is common on this airline but the inconsistency in customer service scares me. All I can say is pay very close attention to your seat on air transat and avoid the rows directly behind first class...or better yet avoid them for a more consistent carrier.

We flew Air Transat last summer to England, and while our seats weren't as bad as yours appears to be, we still got to enjoy screaming babies the way there and the way back (overnight flight as well).
A few years ago, I flew Lufthansa to Europe and that has forever ruined my perception of what airlines are like lol AT and Lufthansa are worlds apart in quality... but it's also twice the price.

Or you could fly Lot airlines- WOW- now that was an adventure. It is a Polish airline. I knew it would be interesting when the baskets of rolls for the dinner were being lobbed by the passengers over their seats to each other- all the way to the back of the plane. Grab a roll and pass it on! It was quite funny to watch.

And let us not even mention the bathrooms... yeah.. it was...ugly.

Sorry that you had a bad flight. It is frustrating to be stuck, without any help to make it better.

my first experience on a plane was on one of the small air canada jazz planes, let me tell you it was a BAD experience.
we hit a really bad patch of turbulance for practicly the entire flight, it was small, cramped and the aisle was small even for me and im a small person!

When i went to Los Angeles, we were on a huge air canada plane and it was nice and comfy, there was screens on the backs of the headrests not bad.
Yea until a group of 3 children sat behind us. kick kick kick, i turned around got their attention and just glared at them.
Needless to say they stopped kicking hahah

as for the crying babies, its really not their fault. the air pressure hurts babies ears more than adults.

we were lucky both times when we came over to Canada with Penguinette 1.The first time she was 14 months and played a few games of Peek-a-Boo before sleeping for most of the flight. Going back to Britain, the overnight flight meant she slept all the way on the mummy-cushion. The people behind us were most annoyed that they couldn't complain aboput her.

When we moved to Canada she was around 28 months, we spent 3 hours running around Heathrow and wearing her out and again she slept most of the way.. Wouldn't have done it with P2 or lilP though. They rarely fell asleep while travelling whileP1 would fall asleep before I reached the end of the road..

Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Sorry for the bad experience you had.
We flew with air transat start of this year from Uk as they were the cheapest one way. Air canada would charge about the same for a one way as they would do for a return flight. Anyways I saw some forums and blogs before booking in with air transat and to be honest i was scared travelling with two kids. But our experience turned out really well. The flight attendants were just ok but the overall comfort of the seats were not as bad as we had prepared us for.
They have quite a lot of different kinds of plans and I searched a lot on web to see what seats not to book. As they have added seats to their plans at a later date and such seats are really not comfortable and convenient.

I have flew many times to the UK and while I love British Airways I just can't afford their prices (I know the service is better but sometimes it comes down to price.) I have been on many Air transat flights and I have found my best plan is to book the window seat. Go to the bathroom just before I board the plane, only drink water on board and then only have to get up once, maybe twice to use the on board toilets (which I try to wait till someone in my row gets up) I find you get an extra few inches in the window well and you don't have people bumping you in the aisle. I just try to ignore everyone and sleep on the flight. Babies don't bother me but kids kicking the seats drive me nuts.

Oh man, I hope you did not pay extra or asked for that seat! I have sat there before ... while travelling alone with my 6 month old also on Air Transat (YYZ-AMS) It is indeed terrible as the seat does stick out (comfort class only has two seats in front of you) Those "bulkhead seats" are typical for (screaming) babies and we avoided them at all cost before having a baby ourselves. I still cannot believe people pay extra for those seats knowing that chances are pretty high that there will be children in the row. Also I hated the curtain that the flight attendants kept closing and there was really no way to watch tv unless you were allowed to move the curtain and can watch the comfort class screen.

It's not only Air Transat who is unpredictable in their customer service. I remember raving about KLM to a friend (since all my klm flights were wonderful) until we flew KLM together for the first time, and it was a disaster.

Anyways - sorry your experience sucked. Personally after flying so many airlines, I just go with the cheapest and suck it up for 7-8 hours lol.

I to try to avoid Air Transat...I one booked my mom on a flight to Vienna with them and when I called her to see how her flight had been she lectured me to never ever ever book her on that flight again lol
Austrian Airlines is by far the best to me....food, service, comfort etc amazing!

I try to fly JetBlue as much as possible. They only have two types of planes and both have tons of leg room. You can also sign up for free to collect jetblue points, so that you can work towards a free flight. They have the best on time record and don't overbook flights.
