If any of you were fans of Applebees in Clayton Park, their last day in business was yesterday, they're now closed. The manager said that he was 'unaware of the reasoning behind the closure.'

    That is indeed unfortunate.

I'd never eaten there before. Didn't even know there was an Applebee's in HRM.

Too bad you didn't get your birthday dinner! Applebee's has some good food and treats people well. It's a real class act of a restaurant. Veterans eat for free on Rememberance Day and everybody gets a meal on their birthday. They make about the best sirloin I've ever had, wish I knew how they do it!

I just read that East Side Mario's in MicMac Mall closed their doors on New Years Day, with no notice to most of their employees.

I wasn't a frequent diner there, too far away for us, but unfortunate for the staff to lose their jobs now.

That's a shame about East Side Mario's. I ate there once while shopping and the food was good, the staff was pleasant and attentive and the location was great. I didn't see any workers that weren't good at customer service, they deserved to be treated better than that.

Could it potentially be Target wanting the space? Potentially....

Maybe, but it could be that consumer spending is down because a lot of people have too much debt and the shipyard isn't quite the economic driver that people hoped for last year.
