i tried to post this already...hopefully there isnt two threads like this.
when i see other peoples stockpiles i noticed that there is usually a lot of cereal boxes.

i have 6 kids and we go through a cereal box in 2-3 days.....4-5 if im really lucky.

i was just wondering if anyone has any good advice on how to stockpile lots of cereal and what are the best deals and how do i find them?

i have seen cereal go as low as $2/box and i buy a bunch, but maybe we eat it too fast to keep it stockpiles? I can easily spend $10-$20 a week on cereal

    help please

i have a hard time finding the ones with fpc's on sale....i have now sworn not to buy anymore unless it is free or each works out to $1 or so each (for fpc and cereal)which i should have been doing in the first place. So I recently bought the banana nut cheerios at wal mart 2.97 deal - the $1 coupon= 1.97 with the free ice cream coupon.

Right now Save On has a sale on Buy 5 Kellogs cereal and 2 lbs of strawberries and gt a $10 GC. Strawberries are on for 2.99 and the Mini Wheets where on for 3.50. I bought 5 strawberry Mini Wheats and strawberries and paid 20.49 (which also gives you 5 x free 8ct eggos. They then gave me the $10 GC and I went to a second Save on and did the same but used the GC, so 10.49 for that one and the $10 new GC made it actually .49 for the last one. So less then $21 gives you 10 x 8ct eggos, 4lb strawberries and 10 x boxes of cereal

I also have 6 kids also so I know how fast cereal goes. I have always stocked up on cereal when it goes on sale for $2.99 or $3.49 at Fresh Co. or No Frills (not sure if there are others) for the family sized boxes! We are so low on cereal right now! I hope this sale happens again soon!

I will be watching this thread also I hope to get some tips

On Vancouver Island I can get a 50lb bag of oatmeal at Country Grocer for $20!!! That can go a long way for baking and breakfasts!!! I do buy cereal now if its on sale plus coupon plus a free icecream coupon on it but otherwise I encourage my kids to have oatmeal or toast for breakfast - cereal is way too expensive per gram and it isnt a necessity! Plus, there have been tons of coupons for free samples of full boxes of cereal lately through websaver and save.ca.

tara lynn, if you havent come across these freebie cereals on SC yet, these are good. perhaps have some friends or family order some extras for you as well.

    https://www.websaver.ca/en_ca/portal/cheerios/
    https://www.allkpass.ca/royalbreakfast/en/default.aspx

as the others have mentioned, when cereal go on sale, stock up more since cereals have a long expiry date... and try to use coupons with it along with any loyalty programs and find cereal boxes with FPCs

heres some of the current kelloggs promos with FPC.
    http://www2.kelloggs.ca/Promotion/Pr...aspx?PID=26696

i got some $2 coupons in a booklet at the pharmacy, which i applied to kelloggs cereal on a good sale at $2.49 and it came with FPC for Activia yogurt. NET cost $0.49 for cereal and yogurt (yogurt is worth $2.50 to $3 on sale)... i forgot to use bonus points coupon (hbc/zellers) on this purchase, but that would also give me back $1.50 to $2.50 depending on which coupon i could have used..

you can try trading on SC for cereal FPCs or regular coupons.... with coupons that you dont need and others want. at the moment, with the FPCs for the chocolate cheerios and other kelloggs noted above, you know you can try to trade for those.

you probably want to stock up 1 month worth or more if there is a great deal.
    hope that helps.

do you cook the oatmeal on the stove every morning, or do you get a big bag of minute or instant oatmeal? it is true that cereal is not a necessity and maybe i should be rethinking how much we buy...is there bagged oatmeal that can be cooked in the microwave by my younger kids (thats the best part about cereal, the little ones can get it by themselves without waking me up at 5:30am!)

Superstore has pretty good prices on the instant oatmeal single serving in the yellow box and if you watch the prices it goes quite low sometimes and thats when I stock-up, my 5 yr old can microwave and prepare it himself
