with some ppl expecting that target Canada should be a carbon copy of target usa, i'm not sure how reasonable those expectations are.
i am hoping that they will be a budget friendly store, with a wide variety of options. their house brands and exclusive offers will be something i look forward to exploring. i also hope they offer good sale prices and a fair coupon policy. i also hope their service will be good.
as long as they do all that i will be more than satisfied
the only things i buy from discount retailers is cleaners, soaps and lotions, socks and underwear etc. i have a feeling i will be easy to pleaseIn 2020 I had 100 FREE Grocery pickups! Subscribe to PC Optimum Insiders & get 25,000 PC Optimum pts

I know Sobeys is partnering with them to provide certain grocery products, but Sobeys certainly does not offer Archer Farms, which is Target's house-brand. That alone will be worth the visit to Target.
I do have high expectations for their apparel section as well. At the very least, their arrival will pose some serious competition for Walmart - which should ultimately benefit us as consumers.
*Edited to address the "if you want US Target you will have to go to the US*
I don't recall saying I want US Target. I said I hope customer service (awesome), pricing (competitive), and wide selection of products mirrors the US - similar practices, not identical. And I did mention that since it is an entirely new geographical market, things would obviously be different. I see no reason why Target Canada wouldn't be able to offer the above, without my having to go the US - thanks for the suggestion though!

About customer service, someone went through the hiring process and told me that she had to do an online interview, but did not make it past that stage. So, based on that, maybe they are being careful with their hires.
About differences, the Canadian government imposed some restrictions on Target (Walmart too) about how much Canadian product they must sell. So, there will be a difference from the US.

No. Not an expert. Just an SC liking more choices in shopping. We have been taken advantage of for too long. Target makes the playing field a little more fair, IMHO.
I don't know about stacking. I am assuming that what happens in each province dictates where stacking can occur.
I asked them about printable coupons like you can find at the US Target website. They gave some answer that a politician would give -- left me so confused.Last edited by Shwa Girl; Tue, Feb 19th, 2013 at 03:48 PM.

Thanks Poirot.
Thanks Aimz.
Love that both of you are really into this topic. Will look forward to your review of your Target stores and compare to mine in Oshawa area.
According to the target.ca website, they will have Archer Farms products. I hope the keep their word.

@FrugalKris, if Macy's, JCPenney, Burlington Coat Factory, Vitamin World and Dillards want to come north of the border, I'm for that. They have better clothes and "drugs" compared to what the Canadian stores want to sell us at crazy, crazy prices.

Not all the Zellers locations are switching to Target. My sister-in-law just updated me about the one in her area Cornwall, ontario---they just plan to divide the old Zellers location into smaller stores--no Target!
Oh, well. I guess she will just have to shop on the US side!

from what i understand, they will be opening new stores as time goes on. at least that is what they have said on their FB page a few times.
from what i understand, this first round of stores is ones that are simply opening up in the newly leased sites. this doesn't mean they cannot, or will not, lease more sites as time goes on.
if you aren't getting a store immediatly, don't lose hopeIn 2020 I had 100 FREE Grocery pickups! Subscribe to PC Optimum Insiders & get 25,000 PC Optimum pts
