just curious if anyone has done a sevice for service exchange? what have you given and received?

I often exchange simple handyman service (ie. Install a light fixtures, hang pictures) for a meal. I call it food for service.

My hubby's a mechanic, he traded his friend some work on his cars and the friend installed all of our laminate flooring. Worked out fantastically as we saved a lot of money!

I make candles, soaps and bath & body products and at craft shows I've bartered with other vendors for gifts and treats for myself

Often! Around here I have a reputation for doing just about anything to help with something in exchange for a glorious delicious home cooked meal and or baked goods!

Young lady in town cuts my hair and does seamstress work for me in exchange for waking up in the middle of the night to drive her home when she gets drunk or taking her to where her car is in the morning.

Couple young redneck fellas perform minor mechanic work for me, in exchange I help them get truck unstuck or pick them up when ther beater cars fall apart.

Friends in Florida do food for food exchange. It's common. If you have a grapefruit tree in your yard, it's easy for you to leave a bag of grapefruits on your friend's front step, and your friend will leave a bag of mangos, from their tree, on your front step.

Hmmm. No wonder the price of grapefruits and mangos are expensive in the Florida grocery stores.

I have a niche expertise in investing. People are often offering me services in exchange for help as I refuse to charge for the advice.

Best was when my massage therapist gave me 2 treatments in exchange for help!

My dh was an upholsterer for over 50 years traded upholstery work for many services. In fact, the CTV news did a piece on him several years ago when we lived in Edmonton. During a recession he would trade upholstery work for what ever, and advertised so in the newspaper. The newspaper and tv picked up the story and it went national....so I guess I'm married to a celebrity

I used to have a reflexology practice and traded sessions for hair cuts/colour, massages, and sewing.

My Dad was a lawyer, and he and our dentist (a friend of his from university days) traded services for decades, until they both retired.

I started a thread a while ago about a form of service exchange called time banking. For some reason, when I post about it on forums it never "flies". People are quick to point out what can go wrong with it rather than how it can work. I think that's such a shame!
