My cats are given canned cat food daily.
i leave out dried food in case they feel like grazing through the day....that stuff lasts forever.
at night they eat the meat out of the dogs bowl, which I cook myself.
He gets ground sirloin, cooked, with broccoli and carrots and apples usually.
when I am grinding meat I usually give them some raw meat because if I don't they attack me in my sleep.
they are very healthy, nice weights, excluding my male because he goes outside and kills mice and birds and then comes in and eats again.
i gave him sliced chicken and wild rice dinner
the first two ingredients was listed as chicken and liver
he doesn't like the pate type, unless it's medi-cal or premium from pet stores
it's packaged in Canada
unlike, amigo which is packaged in Thailand! and sold at sdm
now my cat craves and cries for wet food!
I agree with you don't trust your vet unless trained in pet nutrition. After Jupiter has struivite stones and the vet was determined to put him on hard food and it made it worse. Hard food is ok for a treat or add water to it. Hard food can cause stones in kitties and UTI problems. To make my kitties drink water I use Purebite freeze dry chicken treats after they eat a few pieces they run to the water dish.
I've been feeding Keisha Oven Baked Tradition for a month now. I find that she eats a lot less of this than the Purina. With Purina, she was eating over a cup a day. Now I'm feeding her the recommended dosage of 1/2 cup per day, and even that is sometimes too much for her. She's very energetic and her poop is good (it was diarrhea in the beginning). I fed her wet food that I bought at a pet store that said to be hollistic, but she kept on vomiting. I'll have to go home and check the brand name, but it certainly didn't go well. I wonder why :(
metro's irresistible cat food is pretty healthy, they list the chicken or liver first NOT meat-by-product
and it's made and canned in Ontario
but most importantly, my cat loves the taste
and it's very affordable.
Thought I'd share this:

Couldn't link, as I just created this account to post that.
Apollo gets at least 1 can of Fancy Feast a day along with some low cal dry food. He had a serious case of pancreatitis last year and they suspect it's caused by too much poor quality food. He's doing fine.
dry food is the best !
