At least people don't walk into you on a regular basis. My city isn't too bad, but going to Seoul is awful. At first I thought it was because of the sheer size of the population around here, but a friend from New York City said that that doesn't happen there....

I'm sorry to hear it happened. The worst part is that you'll remember it long after she's forgotten it because it was just so bizarre.
I remember one occasion when I was riding the subway and the car was completely empty. At one stop, a man got on and stood and stared directly at me. A few stops later, he was still staring, and we were still alone. I made eye contact and gave him a little smile and turned back to my book. He decides that he's now going to start yelling and lecturing me for sitting in "his spot". It was always "his spot", he always sat in that exact seat on the subway, no one else was allowed to sit in "his spot".... etc. A little flustered and confused, I got up from the seat and moved to another. He sat in mine and continued to stare until I reached my stop.
On one hand, I didn't want to upset him if it was just a seat on the subway that made him fly off the handle. On the other, I didn't know if it was better for whatever condition he had to rationally and calmly explain that I sat in the seat first and he was free to choose any of the other unoccupied seats. Was I understanding enough of his state, or did I just enable him to be a bully? Obviously, I can't hold him up to the usual social etiquette standards, but I don't know him well enough to know what would have been the best thing to do. It still bothers me a bit to this day and I still don't know what I would do if I ran into that situation again.

That sucks that it had to happen to your bag... At least it wasnt the food part she was sitting on. Clothes can be easily washed when given enough time
i was happy that nothing bad came out of this until i read exoticbella's post though... LOL"Expecto Patronum!" - Harry Potter

Maybe she was having a bad day and not thinking clear.
You never know what the other person on the bus is going through.
I'd move my bag and myself and leave her sitting there. The best things in life...aren't things

When I was 8+ months pregnant I entered a crowded bus and sat in the first available seat. I then had a middle-aged gentleman get after me for taking his seat beside his wife. I then stood up and had to stand the entire bus ride. Due to motion sickness during the pregnancy, I had to talk to someone on my phone to keep myself distracted while riding, so I was talking to my mom and loudly complained about the man that wouldnt let a very pregnant lady sit while rubbing my large tummy! His wife sat there very quiet and would not look up at me. Still upset about that one, a lot of times it isnt the young people but the middle aged men who seem to have a sense of entitlement.

She may have been embarrassed. English might not have been her language, she may not have even noticed, some people are so unaware of surroundings. There could be a whole plethora of reasons. I don't know, as I am not the bag sitter.
I know I am going to get flamed for this, but if you don't want your bags sat on you hold them on your lap. It would be my hope no one would sit on your lap, but again, people can be crazy. When putting bags on a seat next to you, you risk getting them sat on for who knows what reason, even on an empty bus. When I lived in Halifax, transit was a nightmare on certain routes, and often because someone didn't want someone else to sit next to them they would put their bag on the seat next to them and refuse to move it, even on a packed bus. There would be ppl standing while others took up two+ seats with their bag/bags. Ppl standing were also guilty of not asking the person to move their bags.
The bag sitter also may have sat on the bag to teach the bag owner a lesson. Now I do not agree with sitting on the bag purposely. I agree that was rude to sit on bags. I guess we won't know the reasoning unless the bag sitter comes on the forum.
The proper thing to do would have been for the bag sitter to ask the person if they would move their bag. The bag sitter took a risk was lucky it wasn't a bag with glass in it or diabetic needles etc. I wouldn't risk sitting on someone's bag. With people these days, they might have a weapon or be violent, sitting on someone's bag is a risky decision.
I'm also a bit paranoid, so when I travel transit I have my bags on my lap as there is also the risk of someone stealing the bags. Of course I am used to the longest bus ride being about 45mins, so holding the bags it's too burdensome.
In the end, ppl are crazy and act in crazy ways.Try out the maven box by julep And code FREEFB, and get your box for one cent:

I agree with the bad driving sometimes, they don't wait for a person to even reach the first row of seating before pulling away.

Unfortunately she was probably mentally ill. No person in their right mind would do something like that.

I have difficulty walking right now because my feet are injured. i was stuck in the corner and would have had to climb over her if I couldve walked, I definitely would have done that on a normal day.
matrix82 I don't think she was visually impaired because as soon as someone else a little further down got up, she BOLTED to grab the newly-vacated seat so she could sit alone. She was watching like a hawk. I have a friend who is visually impaired. She has a guide dog and doesn't move as fast as this lady did
everyone else, dont' think she was mentally ill, I think she may have been embarrassed that I pointed out that she should have said something or grabbed the empty seat right in front of me because she pretty much ran away once I said something. But it really annoys me that people look at me like I'm the crazy one because I dare point this out. If people don't point things like this out, they will keep happeningApply every possible promo code to your cart, at every store that you visit (and get points for cash back on top of that?).
