I would think more than four, usually when I buy them there are six or eight - but each store has their own guidelines they would go by.

I usually think of it as at least 6 breasts.
The back of the walmart flyer in fine print says something about matching like items as solely determined by them though. They get to decide if its alike enough to price match it.

It really depends on the size of the family. For myself 4 would definitely be plenty but its just myself, dh, and 2 ds both under 5 years old. Personally though I won't buy chicken breast unless it is on sale at Safeway because than it is only $26.xx for 4 kg a great price, I think regular price is around $42.

I would consider 4 or more to be a family pack or club size

I travel to the US to buy my chicken. At Wegmans they sell individually wrapped chicken breasts. They come in a sheet of about 10 I think and they are $1.99/lb. I generally get 20 or so awesome sized and tasting chicken breasts for under $30. It's worth the 45 minute drive.
