I read this story this morning, and thought it was the most bizarre excuse.

He was granted clemency because of poor legal representation - he hadn't asked for that defence. He'll do life in prison. Governor said the obesity didn't factor into his decision.

How odd is that? I am no fan of the death penalty, but being fat is no excuse.

I'm not a fan of the death penalty either, so I'm glad there was an alternate ending.

Obviously I read internet news very rarely. Thanks, Natalka for posting the rest of the story.
