I would have thought the same for Future Shop but they shut the doors. No sale. I'm assuming since they are owned by the same company and were pretty much next door to each other that they'll just filter the stock through BB instead.

+ 1 They're just closing "duplicate" stores that are located too close to each other, plus I'm sure many of those stores would just be relocated to another nearest city/street. An year ago Future shop closed one of the Kitchener's locations, and just open another one but it was a more convenient location, busy plaza. They had 0 deals, everything was just relocated.

I don't think there's going to be any sale. If you read further down it says that in Sherbrooke the store didn't even open and employees were ordered by security guards to go home.
I agree with Nicky, there are so many duplicate locations. Dundas Square in Toronto has both a Futureshop and Best Buy, basically across the street from each other. Why? The prices and stock are identical. Wasteful
They will shift their stock to their warehouse probably. So sad the company did this to the employees with zero noticeApply every possible promo code to your cart, at every store that you visit (and get points for cash back on top of that?). It's sweet and easy with HONEY.

I don't mind Future Shop closing down as everytime I shopped there I noticed extremely pushy staff. Years ago I was tricked into buying a 3-year protection plan for a laptop for $399 + tax!
The experience at Best Buy is generally positive, since their staff are not on commission.

They probably just move inventory to other locations, so we might not be able to get many big deals

This is becoming ridiculous where places can close without telling their employees until they show up for work and the doors are locked. East Side Mario's in Dartmouth, NS did the same thing not too long ago. People deserve at least a little warning when they are about to lose a job.

Wow approximately 900 jobs stripped away just like that.

DH works in the tech industry and is very knowledgeable about computers. He was at Futureshop buying something he needed and saw the sales guy trying to sell a little old lady on something that was not even compatible with her device. Like something that wouldn't even plug in because it didn't fit. He figures that salesguy didn't know what he was talking about but I wonder if it was the commission
DH told the lady that it would not work and the sales dude pulled him aside and gave him an earful, but he's glad he stopped her from getting scammed and saving her what could have been a difficult trip to go back and return it
The only time DH will set foot in Futureshop is if he needs something right away so can't wait for shipping frm Tigerdirect or Canada Computers...and then he'll go to Futureshop only after he's been to BestBuy and Staples to see if they have what he needs in stock

Never understand the point of having a Future Shop right across the street from a Best Buy. I've seen that in several places.
