Won't be riding...I start back to work next week...will be checking out pictures like I usually do...I am hoping I get some real hilarity from stalking this time. Hoping I might be able to ride the train after this one.

Yeah!!! Excited for this. Looks like it should be lots of fun. Submitted my wishlist... Pumpkin- Maybe you could send it to another "fluffy" rider. A non "fluffy" person might look at the pantaloon sizes and wonder if they should make a tent or apron or something equally as embarrassing
Still working hard on the diet but it took more then 2 months to gain the weight...

So anyone want to hear my interesting story from yesterday?

Well, on Sunday evening, we had some theft in our store. Two guys stole two big bottles of liquor. Our younger male staff member was working by himself unfortunately....didn't notice at the time it was happening, but realized the bottles were missing later and called my dad to watch the video footage. So, Monday morning, I come into work, and look at the videos and pictures of the two males. Well wouldn't ya know, 30 minutes later, they come strolling in, probably thinking "that was too easy last night" and were obviously going to try to steal again. I recognized them immediately from their pictures and called out to my dad who was in the office to come up front. I stand at the counter and my dad walks towards them saying "Hey, can I see your ID?" The one guy had grabbed a six pack of beer while the other was already towards the back about to grab a bottle of liquor. (The front guy is a decoy to distract from the back one stealing the expensive stuff) The front guy is like "uhhh umm uhhh" and I can see that he's going to make a run for it. So he does. Adrenaline kicks in and I hop the counter to chase after him or at least see what direction he's going to tell the cops. (Remember ladies, I'm 19 weeks pregnant) But as soon as I get outside, my sister had see him run out with the beer and was in a full sprint already chasing after him down the street. LOL So I turn around to see what's happening with my dad and the other guy inside and they are sorta "wrestling" because my dad is trying to hold him and he's trying to escape out the door. So I push the door close to try to keep him inside but he's too strong and they come outside. The guy pushes me to the pavement while him and my dad continue to "wrestle" a bit on the sidewalk. I get up and walk over to try to help again, but back away, and let him unfortunately run away because I'm pregnant and obviously he can overpower me. My mom at that point takes off in her SUV to "follow/track" where they are running to and look for my sister. I call 911 and tell them what's going on...
Few minutes later, we can hear the cops speeding by. My sister comes back in shortly after with the six pack of beer in her hand, telling us that the cop arrested the first one. Mom shows up shortly after that telling us the cops got the second one. Both my mom and sister were full of adrenaline and smiling and yelling, "You don't f*** with our family!" Bahahahahaha Cops came back after arresting them to see all the video footage from today and the day before and took all our statements.
My dad had a big scratch on his elbow from wrestling onto the curb. I was fine, other than a bruise on my left thigh and scrapes to both of my knees. But because I'm pregnant, my husband made me go to the hospital later to check on baby. Baby was fine with a heartbeat of 144.
Yes, it was dumb on my part to get involved since I'm pregnant and I'm sure you're all wondering, why any of my family got involved to start with. But it's a private liquor store that we own, so it's OUR money running out the door that we will never get back. And second of all, yes we can call and report to the cops, but honestly, they don't do much about petty theft at all. If my sister and mom hadn't had been "tracking" them and calling the cops, the males would probably have not been found and arrested. I'm sure they got released later that day and won't be charged with much at all, but at least, we hope that they got a good scare and know not to ever come steal from us again!

OMG, MeShell.......I can appreciate that this is your own store and the products stolen is money out of your pocket, but that sounded really dangerous!! We are told repeatedly not to chase thieves, as they are usually carrying a concealed weapon. I work at a liquor store here in Truro, and get very angry when I know someone is/has stolen (and this is government owned liquor). I have chased people out of the store, etc., but after a few incidents have realized it is not worth my life (security officer at Sobey's was stabbed by people who we watched when they were in the store). We get alot of theft, as alcohol is easy to sell/trade for drugs and there is a known crack house across the street. I'm sorry to sound like a nag, I just know people in your life would be very upset if something happened to you, your sister, father or unborn babe :o( I'm very relieved to hear this ended well........maybe when they leave the cop shop, they will get hit by a bus......

I know it's not worth it at all. If I was by myself, I would have just yelled at them and let them run and then called the cops. We've had a fair bit of theft lately in our town so we were all just a bit pissed off and weren't going to let them get away with it again. I was just worried about my dad and him wrestling which is why I tried to somewhat intervene by trying to trap him inside, but obviously that didn't work and I got pushed aside. I wouldn't have ran after the first guy like my sister did either, I just wanted to see what direction he was running to. Also, we live in a small town and there is rarely any crimes that involve weapons here. I know it can happen obviously and to be aware of it, but it's very very rare that you ever hear of any crimes in our town involving knives or especially guns. The most frustrating part is that there's so much petty crimes like small theft in this town yet the cops rarely do much about it so it keeps happening because they are still out there or keep getting away with it...
