She is still unable to breathe on her own. Her power of attorney paperwork says that life saving measures are not to be taken unless there is a chance of a life with dignity. She had another heart attack last night and things aregoing downhill. It is now just a matter of waiting. thinking of you. I can't even imagine how hard this is. I've seen it many many times before as I worked in the Emergency Department for almost five years and saw so many families have to make this decision. praying for you and your family.

juliejolie - big hug to you too! thank you for sharing.

I did it for awhile last year, worked well but I fell off track. I plan to start up again once we get settled from the move. Though I imagine my pasta/cracker/treat loving son will have a hard time with some of it. I've had some health issues lately and think it would help. I just got a Paleo Crockpot cookbook that has some interesting recipes in it, including chili with no beans, and a few others that look quite yummy. Can't wait to try them out.

*MeShell briefly crawls out of the corner to give Mom2KS a hug, as well as JulieJolie for sharing her story too* Thank you for everyone's hugs, kind words, and support.

It's still very raw to me and hard to talk about still without wanting to cry. We saw our OBGYN yesterday and are being referred to BC Children's Hospital for another ultrasound and discuss what we're facing. It's nothing life-threatening and it's not even something that feels like "its the end of the world" to me, but still completely devastating to us because you want your baby to be perfect...and just a lot of fear/worry because we know baby will require surgery.

    Sigh...

    *crawls back into the corner*

Wow, some tough situations happening. Momto2Ks, there is nothing easy about losing a loved one and sitting by helplessly. I hope your family are dealing well with the situation :0(
MeShell, my heart goes out to you. I don't even know what you must be feeling right now. I was pregnant after 35, when the risk of birth defects becomes more likely, and I can remember the fear and worry, and how helpless you feel. I am relieved by the fact that this is not life-threatening. My thoughts are with you and your family. There is lots of great supportive people in the corner :0) Feel free to vent!

Thanks Meshell and everyone else. It is pretty hard to just sit back and watch and wait- hopefully as timegoes on I can accept it a bit more.

Hope the ultrasound at the Children's hospital gets you some more answers. (((Hugs to you and your family))) Let us know if there is anything you need

Hugs MeShell. I can relate to a certain degree. My pregnancy with alexa was very up and down. Last Valentine's day they told me at emerg that I was having a miscarriage. The pregnancy was done and to just let it run its course. I was referred to the genetics department, where 10 days later, they said "this is the pregnancy and there's the heart beat"...the hospital was wrong and I was still very much pregnant. I had to go for so many tests during the pregnancy, and then at one point, I was also referred to a high risk specialist because they found abnormalities with her tests. Then came the pediatric cardiologist. When she was born, she had major respiratory issues and we were so scared we'd lose her. In the end, she is a happy little girl, but like you say, the uncertainty about what you're facing, and knowing there is something wrong with your baby....so hard.

I was very torn during my pregnancy. When our parents had us, there wasn't the opportunity to know so much about our babies. And I wonder I'd to a certain extent, that was better. Of course, I know it's better to be prepared for the birth and any possible interventions etc, however it's so stressful. I was soooo worried about spina bifida because my best friend since grade 1 was born with it. When we were born though, half of the babies born with this didn't survive, and now most cases can be corrected in utero. Tanya passed away December 20th this past year at the age of 31...extremely unexpected, i was talking to her one day and the next she was on life support. I was on my way in to be with her husband and parents to stop the life support when she passed on her own. Makes me sad. And certain that I'd rather know and be prepared for what's to come than not.

, ow I'm down. Sorry, I don't know if this ramble will make things worse...I just wanted you to know that I completely understand the ups and downs and uncertainty.

Can I come join you all in the corner? I'll bring bunny. And vodka.

Aww Momto2K's - I am so sorry, this sounds very similar to the way I lost my gramma too. It's so hard, it was when she had been on support for a week or so and I was visiting her and she just looked at me.... and her eyes said it alll, let me go. It's no way to live but so hard to let them go at the same time. Huge Hugs.

MeShell.... I don't know what to say except more hugs and love to you all. We are here for you when you want to talk more.
