pammie you could try a soother. that is what i do with carter when i know that he is fed but still needing something to suck on. only lately during the day he has been the spawn of satan not wanting to sleep! but i did switch his bed (bassinet to the playpen) the other day and that is when the refusal of sleep started.

now off to get the dog from his leash and i am off to bed. i am just so frustrated the last few days and it is making me more tired but i will save that rant for tomorrow.

OMG! Hubby just came running to see why I was laughing out loud so hard. I am not sure why I found this sooooo funny, but I did. Thanks so much for the laugh I really needed it today.

    Glad I could oblige ma'am!
it's a super crazy busy at work tonight, and a couple of our servers are down and the technicians don't have a clue what's wrong with them so they are calling to help desk in India, and they can't do anything from there so we're all kind of running around like chickens with our heads cut off praying to God nothing goes wrong and no bad rubber goes out the door. Sometimes it's amazing how much we rely on the computers.... Even our label maker went down for a little while and we looked at each other and wondered what do
we do now? we had to hand write out labels for a while - - imagine that!

For those looking for an update (if anyone cares)- My grandma is being taken off of life support today and they are doing a tracheometry (I know that is spelt wrong...?) She is still unable to breathe on her own. Her power of attorney paperwork says that life saving measures are not to be taken unless there is a chance of a life with dignity. Being that that is no longer the case, the paperwork is being drawn up and needs to be signed off by 2 different doctors and her power of attorneys. She had another heart attack last night and things aregoing downhill. It is now just a matter of waiting. I am trying to take the road of "at least she will be painfree and have her dignity back" but I got to tell you it is super hard and although I can think/type it- I am not sure that is actually how I feel.

Ok- I am headed to back page 51 to pick up where I left off.

It's still very raw to me and hard to talk about still without wanting to cry. We saw our OBGYN yesterday and are being referred to BC Children's Hospital for another ultrasound and discuss what we're facing. It's nothing life-threatening and it's not even something that feels like "its the end of the world" to me, but still completely devastating to us because you want your baby to be perfect...and just a lot of fear/worry because we know baby will require surgery.

    Sigh...

One of the applications asked if I preferred "Mrs, Miss, Ms or other". It took EVERYTHING in me to click "other" and type in PRINCESS. <--- ROFLMAO

She spitd it out. I've tried different types. She found her thumb for a few glorious days. Short lived. She refuses the bottle too which should be interestinf when I go to the pink concert and she'll be alone with grandma for about 6 hours...
    Oh, the joys.

Sometimes the switch from a small space to a bigger one is overwhelming for them, you can try making the space in the play pen smaller, you may need to improvise then gradually make it up to normal size.

My boy never took a soother, but he did love his bottles. He's 3 and been bottle-less for less than a month now But I have to say, he was easy to get to bed, it may be cheating and it was annoying, but it meant easy bedtimes. As for the bottle, she may take one when you are not there, if you are nearby when trying to give one she knows it and is probably thinking "wth? where's the goodstuff???" You can skip it and go to a sippy cup, straw ones are supposed to be good for BF babies because it's more the same sucking over a bottle, something like that.

The pregnancy was done and to just let it run its course. I was referred to the genetics department, where 10 days later, they said "this is the pregnancy and there's the heart beat"...the hospital was wrong and I was still very much pregnant. I had to go for so many tests during the pregnancy, and then at one point, I was also referred to a high risk specialist because they found abnormalities with her tests. Then came the pediatric cardiologist. When she was born, she had major respiratory issues and we were so scared we'd lose her. In the end, she is a happy little girl, but like you say, the uncertainty about what you're facing, and knowing there is something wrong with your baby....so hard.

I was very torn during my pregnancy. When our parents had us, there wasn't the opportunity to know so much about our babies. And I wonder I'd to a certain extent, that was better. Of course, I know it's better to be prepared for the birth and any possible interventions etc, however it's so stressful. I was soooo worried about spina bifida because my best friend since grade 1 was born with it. When we were born though, half of the babies born with this didn't survive, and now most cases can be corrected in utero. Tanya passed away December 20th this past year at the age of 31...extremely unexpected, i was talking to her one day and the next she was on life support. I was on my way in to be with her husband and parents to stop the life support when she passed on her own. Makes me sad. And certain that I'd rather know and be prepared for what's to come than not.

, ow I'm down. Sorry, I don't know if this ramble will make things worse...I just wanted you to know that I completely understand the ups and downs and uncertainty.

Can I come join you all in the corner? I'll bring bunny. And vodka.
    ((hugs))
