Can't say I loved the season finale. Didn't hate it either, but what happened with Negan was unsatisfactory enough to overshadow the rest of the plot.

I agree but I did love the crossover into fear I missed a season or two so will need today up to it

Early reports indicate viewership, while still large with a desirable demographic, continued its long-time downward trend. To be fair though, the show is in a position where it was such a hit that growing the audience further became a near impossibility a number of seasons ago, and the main goal since then has been to slow its erosion.

The change in direction this season could be interpreted as a sign that a degree of desperation may be setting in, but the previous format was in decline anyway, so I don't much mind that a shift was made. That said, I was neither wowed nor put off, so I'm reserving judgment until I've seen more.
