Thread: Facebook Freebies - booo

I do have a Facebook account and really enjoy the freebies companies have been giving away through FB.
I don't really get what's with the rant on freebies through Facebook from someone who flat out refuses to sign up to it - hey, you can sign up with the name Mary Poppins or Huckle Berryfinn if you want to, and that's free!!
I could get if you were complaining about freebies for students only or people with car only maybe I could get it, but really, you can only complain so much without doing anything to resolve the issue. My opinion.

Haha!!! Got a funny story. I have a Facebook account and I had ''liked'' several things in order to get free stuff. But then I met this really good looking guy but haven't been talking much with him and I was regretting it. So I wanted to send him a Facebook invitation. Huhhhh not with all the sites I had been liking and all the free stuff.
So I had a big ''clean up'' done on my page. Sent the invitation but he never answered, oh snifffffffff snifffffffff.
So I have a fake account since then with no friends. Been getting all the freebies without problem.Last edited by cbou; Thu, Jun 2nd, 2011 at 08:53 PM.

I have a FB account strictly for freebies. I didn`t realize you could do a fake name so I keep getting friend requests from family and friends. They probably think I`m terribly rude `cause I keep ignoring them.

I have a facebook account only with the fake name. I don't trust either facebook or any social site (twitter, e.g.) in order to give my real name and more than that, to post a picture of myself.
Just imagine, you post your real picture and some guy have a picture of yourself (just copied from facebook or somewhere else) in his car or at home. That's not right, IMO.
As for freebies, well, many companies benefit much from posting their freebies on their Facebook page. That's is the best and cheapest advertisement of their newly created item. They don't open a separate internet site for advertising their item, and pay money for the site provider, but just open a free of charge page on the facebook and that's it! Get a great deal of "likes" and deliver your item for free for the first time users. Mutual benefits for us and for them.
So I definitely like freebies on the facebook but, of course, not "liking" them with the real name.Last edited by Mia; Thu, Jun 2nd, 2011 at 10:30 PM.

I think if you want the benefits of Facebook freebies, you join Facebook. If you want Shopper's Optimum points, you get a card. If you want bonus air miles, you buy the advertised products. And so on. If you don't think the risk outweighs the benefits, don't do it!

I am not a fan of facebook at all, but there are so many worthwhile freebies, so I made up an account just for freebies just like so many others have done. And I thought I was the only one being sneaky

I have gotten some pretty good stuff.

Hey - I remember having to learn how to use a mouse at work, as it was all Star Trek like in the office in those days. And I still miss my Walk-Man. Am I dating myself? I've been dragged kicking & screaming into this electronic age all the way!
Sometimes you just have to give in. : ) But I refuse to "FaceBook" on a social level. I won't give in there.[/QUOTE]
I miss the simplicty when we got a busy signal and decided to walk over to that person's house if it was too long of a wait!
I, too, don't see the merit of Facebooking 24/7. My sister comes over to my mother's house and she is texting the whole time, she and her 13 year old daughter. EVEN at the dinner table. If it were my house, I would say to her "Oh, sorry. I didn't know you were so busy. I will let you go." Sorry for the tangent.
I have a facebook account only for the freebies. I was going to delete it, but I like the free product offers.

I don't have a facebook....nor have I ever really wanted one...
What I want to know is WHY companies use facebook only for the good freebies?
WHY MUST I HAVE FB to get samples? Sounds like "discrimination" to me...hahaha
lets file a class action suit against facebook and affiliated companies...LOL
but seriously...FB has so many great offers, I almost wish I had an account...fake or not...I'm just not down with the whole FB community...I think there is too much BS IN FB and CREEPS!

I LOVE my fake facebook account - lots of deals and freebies!! It makes me laugh when I approve companies to access my wall & information in order to get a freebie, because there's absolutely nothing there

I am very grateful for freebies in WHATEVER format they come in.
Its the companies choice on how they want to distribute their freebies.
Its your choice to sign up for FB if you want. If you don't want to, don't whine about it.

Well, like has been mentioned, there's no need to be part of the "FB community." I think Facebook is just a great marketing tool for companies - if you "like" them, then your friends (if you have a real account) see that you "like" them, and might "like" them also. You essentially start working for the company, advertising them to your friends. And once you "like" them, you get updates from the company 800 times a day so they're always in your mind as you sift through the updates to find stuff about your friends. Probably doesn't have nearly the effect they're going for when it's used only to collect freebies, but I'm sure that's a chance they're willing to take.
