Love carrot muffins! Can I come to your house?

I don't really have a recipe. I just simmer the carcass all day, then strain out the bones, picking the meat off. (I actually dump it all into a colander then add the broth back to the pot, way easier to fish out the bones this way). Then I add potatoes, carrots, turnip and celery, add some spices (usually chives, parsley, basil, and bay leaves). Simmer it 1/2hr longer, make dumplings and serve. It never turns out the same twice. But it's always so yummy.
Thanks for the tip. The layer completely fell apart taking it out of the pan though. It was in no way shape or form useable. We still munched on it all day though!
Sorry it's whipping cream.
The recipe I have is not very clear I'm afraid.
I haven't made it in a while and after reading it over, I am thinking that you must have to melt the butter before mixing it with the graham wafer crumbs in order to get it mixed in well enough to press down to make a crust.
If I were going to make it again, I think I would melt the butter first for that part.
plan for the day get a new umbrella clothesline. posible get a load out.
hit the dollar store for my doller store purchases
and replace the element inthe oven- home hardwear btw has them
all frugal. withteh new rate change for hydro, I want to hang as much as posible.
I use my price book for the doller store, and buy what is cheaper there.
and If I can use my oven- I can bake.
heat might go off as well today. :)
oh, and I am playing my swagbucks, and gifthulk . might as well get a few points, and hopefully cash in for a gc today.:)
The Soda bread is a rather heavy white bread that uses baking soda instead of yeast.
It does not rise like traditional white bread but is more flat.
If you are interested in trying it here's the recipe. This one's pretty easy too.
Irish Soda Bread
3 Cups All Purpose Flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp Baking soda
1 tsp Cream of Tartar
2 Tbsp White Sugar
Sift all dry ingredients together. Mix and lift between fingers about 15 times to allow air to mix in.
Next
1 3/4 cups Buttermilk or I use 7 Tbsp Buttermilk Powder with enough water to make 1 3/4 cups of Buttermilk.
Add that to your dry ingredients to make a soft dough. Do Not Knead.
Roll into a ball* Correction, Dump dough onto a well floured surface sprinkle more flour on top of the dough and rotate it until all area's are covered with flour. ( the dough is sticky and you want to be able to cut it and move it onto your griddle.- I use a pizza cutter) Don't mix in the extra flour you just want to coat it so that you can work with it.
flatten with your hands until it is approx 1/2 inch thick.
There are 2 methods of cooking. I use the one below.
I usually use some extra flour if it is too wet, to make sure it doesn't stick to my rolling pin.
I roll it out to about 1/2 in thickness and then cut it into triangle.(shape doesn't really matter, whatever works for you)
*At this point, I use an electric griddle at medium heat (350 ?) and cook it on each side about 6 minutes.
It will puff up when cooking.
Then put it on a cookie cooling rack wrapped in a clean dish towel. This is important as it helps to keep some of the moisture in it to prevent the crust from going hard.
When ready to eat, slice it through the middle like you would and english muffin.
You can toast it or just eat it as is with whatever topping you like.
* The second way to cook it is by baking it in the oven.
If you want to do it this way, do not roll it out with the rolling pin.
Once you have the round ball of dough, take a cookie sheet and lightly flour it.
Dump the ball of dough onto the cookie sheet, flour the top of it lightly and press it down to flatten it somewhat with your hands. Cut and X into the center of it right across the top of the dough (not all the way through)
Bake at 350 until a toothpick comes out clean , approx 25-30 minutes.
Once done, again I would wrap it in a clean dish towel , place on a cooling rack and allow to cool.
This can be frozen, just make sure you put it in a freezer bag.
Good luck :)
Sorry your cake did not turn out that way you wanted.
If I may make a suggestion, in order to prevent your cake from sticking to the bottom of you pan, next time, try greasing the bottom of your pan and then lining it with wax paper or parchment paper.
The grease will hold the paper in place and when the cake is cooked the paper will stick to the cake.
Peel the paper off the cake while it is still warm.
I usually put my cake pan on top of the waxed paper and score around it with a knife to mark on the wax paper where to cut it.
Then cut it to the shape of the pan so it fits inside neatly.
Hope you had a fun birthday celebration with the little one. They grow up too fast.
WOW that sucks (Sorry to point out the obvious). At my work my Dad is so careful to stay on top of compensating people if their own money was used. I have even picked up things I never thought I would get paid back for and Dad said is it for office use and only office use and when I answer yes I get paid back.
It really sounds like this boss takes advantage of the situation. Not trying to pry just understand what would happen if your DH stopped doing it and just let it slide until people started complaining to the boss? I would if you can look into if it is legal, the only thing that can happen is it is and than nothing is lost, but you could also have a leg for your DH to stand on to say he will no longer do it. Sorry for butting in, just wow that is so wrong by your DH's boss, employees should not be paying for items the company should provide (sorry I think that is boss's daughter in me coming out, since I see a lot my dad does not me and all my sibs have been told to speak out and point these things out so he can make them right if someone else isn't).
I think it time to show you DH the great joy of NED coupons, remind him he can easily remove that from the coupon with a quick little cross out and initial. Not to mention it will mean less bugging from you lol, or maybe it is just me who would constantly drop hint like hey wouldn't a rose bush look amazing there or wow that spot is bare do you know what would fit so well their a rose bush lol.
did part of what my plan was, to use up the meat in the freezer and food in the cupboards here, so stew and chili are now made. Thinking of making pizza, but having a break first.
Was having a super productive day until Mom got up and now everything I do is being questioned so I keep getting pissed and stopping what I am doing.
So far today I have cut up the apples I bought on clearance and put them in the freezer except for a few I am going to turn into apple crisp or something like that. I loaded the dishwasher and turned it on, started the laundry, packed all the clothes for Diabetes to pick up tomorrow and just picked up a few things. So many more things I want to do but if I keep getting questioned it will not happen. It is so so so not my weekend.
my day is going super well. got the new clothesline , and its set up, first load is on. will get a second on today as well.
new element is ordered. hit up no frillsfor their chicken sale.
hit the doller store for a few items.
this weeks frugal endevor is making my own pam cooking spray, I have used those 10.00 spray things where you add oil before, never works. so this time I am trying a spray bottle and water mix .... hoping it works.
