Wow, thanks for sharing these pics, I feel the same about having my picture taken. I was much smaller when I was in my teens and early 20's then slowly the weight crept on. Now after 2 kids, I am slightly over 200 pounds I get motivated every once in a while to do something about it, but I always gain it back.

And you really do look very beautiful in this photo with your sister.

I think you're beautiful in both pictures, Shawshank!

The number on the scale is just a number.... It has nothing to do with the type of person you, how much you love your kids, how much you give of your self... it really is just a number.

Having said that, I'm trying to drop a few pounds just so I can do the things I used to do in my 20s--I used to have so much energy!! And with 2 toddlers, I need more energy than ever!

I know how you feel. I was never small - always a size 16-18 but I still felt good. That was before kids. After my daughter, I never lost the baby weight ... then got pregnant with DS and still haven't lost the added baby weight. So I"m sure I'm up 100lbs. I keep saying, gotta lose it, but I don't. I just feel so ... round? LOL

I've started though and lost 5lbs. For me though, food is comfort and that's a bad association. I need to start hugging a pillow or something, LOL.

Kind of off topic, but Shawlightning kind of looks like Alicia Silverstone in that picture.

I'm with you Nat, I want to lose weight so I have more energy to keep up with my little boy! He has so much energy and wants to be out doing stuff and I'm just so tired all the time. I know what I need to do, but it's hard to actually DO it. I go through phases where I kind of give up and just say to heck with it, I'll be this weight forever who cares! But then I can't go for the walks and play with him outside, and I feel bad.

I do think you look beautiful Shawshank.

We had started that facebook group was it in the advent train? But no one seems to post any more I think there were a couple people doing weight watchers (Bluz! way to go on your 30lbs btw!!) and a few others doing other stuff, for myself I kind of fizzled out and felt guilty so didn't want to post on there saying "well I gained another 2lbs hahaha, can't keep the pizza out of my house!" Any way. Perhaps once the weather gets nicer (spring is coming someday right?????) I will feel more motivated. Or I'll be too embarassed to go out in public lol, one or the other

Some family members are saying I shouldn't bother with a theme cause he won't remember it/care (party poopers!!!) but I want to do something fun! I can't decide on a theme though and I want to start looking for stuff asap so ideas are welcomed as well.
I don't have a boy but I have 3 nephews who are boys.
They've always done themed birthdays which included did Cars (Disney movie),
Batman, Transformers, Thomas the Train, Spiderman, and Pirates

I agree, Shawshank you are naturally beautiful! I've always been chubby all my life. At my heaviest, I was almost 225lbs. Now I'm 189lbs and still trying to eat healthy and lose some more weight. For me, it's so I could keep up with my active toddler and for health issues. Diabetes and high blood pressure runs in my family and I don't want to be sick. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with DD and that scared me. I love my curves! DH loves me! That's all that matters.

gwennad, I'm guilty of no longer posting in the FB group =( Bluzsuz has done so well on the WW and then there was me, stepping on the scale and seeing that I had gone down to 184lbs with my diet but then getting off of it, have crept up to 189lbs =( I just love my dark chocolate almonds and pizza too much. Just need that extra motivation... hoping the nicer weather will get me out for more walks and fresh air with DD.

Shawshank you are a very pretty lady I don't like being photographed either but have made the commitment to myself/my son this year to get in the photos and be present in his life. There aren't many photos of me in the family events because of how I feel about myself. We all just need to realize we are beautiful women no matter our size. I am trying to convince myself that I am a work in progress

wow - similar to what other ladies have shared, what's your secret? (only share if you are comfortable)

and I want to say sorry for not posting in the fb group. I think it's because I've been discouraged about the weight loss and haven't lost much since january. but that's no excuse!! keep on going right? my biggest thing is my DBF is a stick!!!! he has almost zero body fat and eats so unhealthy. like pizza and pop and still, no weight gain. and I eat one chocolate and gain 10 lbs. =(

    SLAMBERT - totally agree!!

my dad always tells me to live by this acronym:

BPWMGINFWMY - "Be patient with me, God is not finished with me yet"

and whether you believe in God or not, we are not finished, we are works in progress.

oh my. don't even get me started on the weight thing.. i lost 10lbs last summer. SO freaking proud of myself.. THEN the circus came to town. well ok actualy it was a fair.. we went. i fell off the wagon.. and then thought.. well it was only a couple of things.. didn't hurt.. whats a few more.. my word.. im back to where i was before.. and more. OMG.. i need warm sunshine so i can get out and walk and open my windows and sweat it out.. i was supposed to lose those 10 + more in time for our party.. pftt. ya right. between winter, and the stress of certain things in my life.. that went out the window too. thank goodness for spanks... LOL.
Shawshank. you are a beautiful woman. and like others have said. you have to love yourself for WHO you are.. (as a woman, friend, whatever were all here for you).. once you accept that.. the rest comes easy.
