Mass stabbing at Texas College, 14 wounded, suspect planned attack

At least 14 people have been wounded in a mass stabbing incident at Lonestar Community College near Houston, Texas. The school is in lockdown.

I almost have no words now. An exacto knife?? Guess the silver lining is it was not a firearm.

I know walks, I was thinking the same thing. Actually the first words out of my mouth were, "how many of these victims would have died if it were a gun?". It's still so sad. Very upsetting that violence like this occurs so frequently anymore.

Thankfully not another gun nut. But the gun nuts will no doubt be out in force saying "I told you so", however no one has yet died from this stabbing as bad as it is.

and when I grew up I cannot remember this kind of " news " ever, so now in the case of this generation that has grown up witnessing ( sometimes firsthand) all of these events. how does that shape their lives, their choices, their hopes, ...couldn't exposure to this constantly cause depression of sorts?

I know some people who grew up in Northern Ireland at the heigh of The Troubles and they seem perfectly okay. The usual rate of depression for our cohort. Though about thier peers who didn't leave NI to go to universities on the mainland is another matter.

- 4 Seriously
- Person in custody
- Went room to room stabbing people

The exacto knife they are showing that could have been used is the type they use in health sciences and not the type we'd use to open a box here.
This is the type of knife they believe was used.

Watching the press conference live on CNN and this is the "official update"

- 14 injured
- 2 victims have refused treatment
- 2 critical
- 4 fair
- 1 suspect in custody. White male believed to be around 21 years and enrolled in the school

It doesn't matter what type of item is used, if a person wants to inflict harm, then they will do it. It could be a fork, pen, anything. If a person has the knowledge and skills, they don't need anything except their hands. Heck, we have heard of people trying to blow up their shoes and underwear! It's a different world people and we just have to adapt to it. Plus, we hear about more of this happening because of the electronic society we live in.

The 20 year old used a razor utility knife and said he planned the attack for some time. He told police that he had fantasized about stabbing people since he was 8 years old.

His picture reminds me of that Holmes guy that carried out the theatre attack. Thankfully nobody died in this incident.
