April has Earth Day/month of environmental cleanup activities. So there's incentive to find places that will take those piles of scrap metal, used CFL bulbs and other items you find while you seek to get back outdoors with the BBQ, lawn chairs, deck/patio furniture and gardening supplies!

Just found an item for this Saturday at Neighbour to Neighbour (about two blocks west of Upper James St., south of Mohawk Road W.:
http://www.hamiltonnews.com/news/n2n...d-electronics/
The centre has teamed up with Niagara E Waste to collect virtually anything that has a plug such as hard drives, key boards, monitors, television sets, cell phones, kettles, lamps, CD players and vacuum cleaners.
“They’re coming in with a truck, hydraulic lift, multiple bins and they’re doing it all gratis (free of charge) for Neighbour to Neighbour,” said Farraway, who noted centre volunteers will direct the public where to toss their discarded items.
Farraway said they will also take microwave ovens, but he is asking the public to remove the glass tray inside before dropping off the appliance.
Materials such as copper wire and computer chips that fetch a higher price as separate commodities will be removed from the items before they are taken and sold to a recycling centre and the money received for material will be turned over to Neighbour to Neighbour Centre.
Farraway noted that could run into the thousands of dollars.
The spring cleaning event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 28 Athens Street.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.
