I've been making a spreadsheet of our regularly purchased items, stuff we can stock up on, monthly usage and cheapest regular prices (as well as sale prices.) It's been a tiring exercise - going through everything item by item. So far though, I've got a fairly accurate idea of some of the list items (besides the ones in use) and am amazed at what I've been able to fit in our apartment. It's scattered, and well hidden. But it's there.

    AA Batteries x 50
    AAA Batteries x 10
    BBQ Sauce - President's Choice x2
    Betty Crocker Potatoes x 4
    Bicks Pickles x 2
    Canned Veg x 24 various
    Canned Fruit x 8 various
    Canned Soup x 12 various
    Canned Tomatoes/Beans etc. x 15 total
    Cat Litter 2x18kg 2x7kg
Club House slow cookers x12 various
    Coke & Diet 34 cases of 24, 12 cases of 12
    Dog Food - Freshpet 6 x 6lb rolls
    Dry Food - Cat 1 in use, 3stock x 4kg
    Flour - Bread 1.5 bags
    Glad garbage bags 2 x 100 bags
    Hamburger Helper x 8
    Ketchup x 2
    Kraft Dinner x 6 boxes, 10 singles
    Mayonnaise x 1
    Mustard x 2
    Paper Towels 12 double rolls
    Parchment 2 x 33 feet
    Pasta 22 bags various
    Pasta Sauce 20 jars/cans
    Peanut Butter x 6 jars
    Pickle Slices x 4 jars
    Playtex 5x36
Satin Care Shave Gel x 4 (stocked my mom up last week - need more for myself!)
    Sidekicks x 2
    Softsoap Body Wash x 6
St. Ives Body Wash x 1
    St. Ives Lotion x 1
    Stouffer's & Lean C. x 10
    Stuffing Mixes x 8
    Sunlight Dish Soap x 2
    Sunlight Laundry x 2
Toilet Paper x 96 dbl rolls unopened
    Turkey - Frozen x 2
Venus Razor refills x 7 blades

When it's hidden in the closet, it's almost forgettable.
My goal is to have 6 months worth of stuff that we usually buy weekly/monthly by the end of July. So August-new year will only be weekly meat/veg/minor snacks. And cola. Current stock is less than a 3 month supply.

I scored last night with Bicks coupons for 75 cents. Price Chopper had them on for $1.99 still (not the sandwich slices), but Walmart had ALL Bicks products (including the Sandwich slices) for $2. I ended up with about 8 jars total, but gave some to the parents.

LOL - they're not all entirely visible. I have an extra closet in my bedroom (by using 2 dressers for me and 1 for hubby, plus one closet for my hanging clothes.) Our "coat closet" is stacked above our heads with pop and paper products. Our "linen" closet has all of our sheets and towels shoved tightly onto one shelf. And a sort-of broom closet now has shelves in it and is a pantry. Overflow goes in the living room corner behind the balcony door.

We're running out of space. But managed to organize it all. Oh - and the 6 boxes of Ziplocs, 4 aluminum foil and 3 plastic wrap fit in drawers. LOL - almost forgot about those.

    Thanks!

I'm way too sick of getting something at one store, only to realize it's cheaper at another. And since we only really shop at 3 different stores regularly, it makes the most sense to have a list of the regular prices at those places. (and a column for special stores that we *may* go to.)

I'm also sick of passing up a sale at one place because "I think it's cheaper at xxx's regular price" only to be proven wrong.

The last columns are "best sale price in x months" and "max price per unit." I can train myself to use the list every shopping trip. I've trained myself not to buy DVDs unless I have my list with me (it's 16 pages long - Yes, I forget what I own and end up buying another copy somtimes.)

Sadly, any stockpile I manage to get of that doesn't last long around here.

Word of warning to those accumulating *ahem30cans* or so... The pressure in some of those cans doesn't last long, or the squirting mechanism gets bunged up. I had that problem in the past with one can of satin care and 2 different brands of the hair-removal cream or mouse. Ended up having to pierce the can with a knife and just let it spray out uncontrollably just to finish the job.

I try to limit it to 6 months at a time now. Haven't had a problem with the "freshness" during that time-frame.

This is kind of a blank version of the template I'm using:

I've been trying to figure out how to upload the Excel sheet as an attachment. Any suggestions?

NM - I think I got it... both the older and newer excel versions are included.
