I would much rather use sunscreen on my children then have them BURN! I also know someone who just had treatment for skin cancer and now has to purchase special sunscreen as per doctors orders, i'd say sunscreen is the way to go!

Just want to let everyone know that sometimes the "brand name" products are copies for Asia.
I remember picking up what I thought was "colgate" toothpaste and while waiting in line to pay I decided to read the ingredients (who hasn't wondered what's in that stuff) and noticed quite a few spelling errors. On further inspection i determined that this EXACT COPY of Colagte toothpaste was in fact a product made in China to fool us all. There is a real problem with this . We are so accustomed to picking up items based on packaging, and they know that.
Good prices, yes, but PLEASE EVERYONE, BE CAREFULL

P.S. I have a Doctor in my immediate family and she says that more people die of melanoma from sun exposure than people die of Cancer from sunscreen....Just a thought

Part of the reason the sun is more harmful now than lets say 350,000 years ago is because human pollution has caused damage to our ozone layer which reduces the harmful effects of the suns rays. The sun however isn't horrible. Many North Americans are low in vitamin D - which we get from the sun. So sunscreen or not, get outside for a little bit everyday and get yourself some vitamin D =)

My son is highly allergic to the chemicals in sunscreen it actually burns his skin instead of protecting it and baby sunscreen actually causes the most damage for him. Go figure

I wish I could spend under $5.00 for sunscreen that is such a good deal... currently I have to use $30.00 sunblock ~ if anyone knows any deals on sunblock (doesn't contain the chemicals in sunscreen only Zinc and Titanium Dioxide) I would love to find some.

I also agree with the poster who made a comment on the stuff in the dollar store, there have been lots of reports of people buying brand name stuff from the dollar stores and it is actually fake, looks exactly the same, but is not... so be very careful and check it out throughly before you use it.

I have gotten great deals at the $ store too. Triscuits (specialty flavours) $1/box, Special K bards $1/box...I don't check as often as I should. Our is Dollar Giant (now owned by Dollar tree) I don't think we have a dollarama in Vancouver.

I agree it's wise to watch out for the fakes...it's a real issue. When I find "great deals" at the $ store I really inspect the packaging etc.

If you use a well.ca coupon (if you can find one and have the minimum cart balance, that is), it's worthwhile...otherwise, I've found Badger stuff at my local health food stores.
Thanks I will have to check it out!!

I do believe your same doctor would have recommended that you smoke back in the 60's... is that healthy for us? Not at all.

    1) Is the sun really dangerous to humans? If so, how did humans survive for the last 350,000 years on planet Earth?

    2) Have the chemicals used in sunscreen products ever been safety tested or approved by the FDA? (The answer is no.)

    3) Who financially benefits when you keep buying and using sunscreen products? (Even if you use your coupons )

    4) What is the environmental impact of sunscreen chemicals washing off into the ocean, a lake, a swimming pool or being washed down the drain in your shower?

    5) Sunscreen manufacturers say the skin doesn't absorb their chemicals. If that's true, then how do nicotine patches work? How do transdermal drugs get absorbed through the skin if sunscreen chemicals don't? (Answer: ALL these chemicals get absorbed through the skin. The skin is not selective about what it chooses to absorb.)

    6) If the sun is so dangerous, then why is the vitamin generated by sunlight (vitamin D) so healthy for humans? Why would humans evolve a mechanism for generating a vitamin from sunlight if we weren't supposed to be exposed to sunlight in the first place?

    7) If sunlight is so dangerous, then why is virtually every living creature on planet Earth dependent on sunlight for survival? Plants use sunlight to generate their nutrition, too, and most animals eat either plants or other animals that originally ate plants. Nearly all life on planet Earth is powered by sunlight. Why does the cancer industry believe sunlight causes death when, in reality, sunlight delivers life?

Again, everything in moderation, so just because the sun in healthy doesn't mean we have to lie in it for hours at a time to get golden.
You must be one of the fortunate ones who doesn't burn after being in the sun for 10 mins or less! Unless I want to be a HERMIT or in excruciating pain from sunburn regularly (burn, peel, burn, peel, burn, peel....you get the drift), then I will continue to use sunscreen. Consider yourself lucky that you can exclude yourself from this unfortunate curse of having to cover up all of the time with protective clothing and loads of sunscreen!!!

    Those are great finds.....
I have heard before though that sometimes they are knock off products so when i go to buy i always bring a list of ingredients with me so that I know if it is really the products and always check the expiry date.
