I am only asking this because my printer is really ty and doesnt print the best, and im going on my first couponing trip on Thursday and I want to make sure that all my coupons are going to work espically because half my coupons are printed. Please let me know!

I use a old laser black and white printer... because it prints of the barcode so clearly... they are inexpensive at about $80 and will do about 1200 - 1500 pages per cartrige... my cartrige refill guy refills them even fuller and i get 2500 per cartrige now... If that barcode is not scannable or if the print is not clear... you will probably get your coupon turned down.

Stores don't scan the barcode. As long as it's there and the code underneath is readable, then you'll be fine to use them.

If it is a store coupon and the barcode is legible, the cashier can enter the code.

If it is a printed manufacturers coupon, as long as the redemption date, address and instructions are legible, it doesn't have to be scannable, all they need is the amount of the coupon to enter since they don't have to scan the code. Unless they don't accept printables, then you're out of luck!!

So far I have never had a coupon scanned, any that I have used are all manually entered. I have never attempted to use a print at home coupon yet. I have some to use though when I see a good deal

I have used a bunch of printed coupons. Many have been scanned in and I've never had a problem. If the coupon doesn't scan then they just type in the code. Just made sure everything is legible and you should be fine. Also, as a tip, I like to highlight the expiry date. The cashiers usually appreciate that as it can be hard to find it sometimes. If you are reasonable and prepared, usually the cashier will give you a bit of a break.

Most stores are not set up to scan any manufacturers coupons unless they are their own store ones which they do input the UPC into their till database

Many stores do not accept printables so it will depend more on that than the quality od the print, at SDM I find the bonus point ones printed on my inkjet at home work better than the laser printer in my office (I think the dots for grey areas confuse it) but they just type them in

As far as I know, the only scannable coupons in Canada (in the West) are the CZ coupons at RCSS, all other coupons are entered by had with the numbers under the bar code, so those numbers and the remittance center address must be clear.

The only time you will have a bar code scanned on a coupon in Canada is when it's a coupon issued by a specific store (eg. Coupon Zone coupons from Loblaws stores or bonus point coupons from HBC stores.)
Internet coupons just have to be legible.
