I went for shopping last Saturday, April 27, to take advantage of the 20x bonus promo. When Im at the check out the guy who assisted me is a newbie and I don't have nothing against him, he was very cool and very patient. I used coupons and he is not sure if I can still avail the 20X promo, so he called his supervisor "JO" inside the office, and I was told that it might or might not do the 20X event. And I told her I used to use coupons before and it was taking. She told me to go take the risk ( is it the proper way to deal with the customer? ), and if it will not just do the refund and redo the transactions. And she confined herself in the office.

I get that all the time... I believe they are told to tell you that even though they know you will get the points. It is a sales tactic from SDM because they want you to spend more.

I brought the issue on the table, and the manager will be sending her entire cash team for retraining.
Complimentary voucher is just a bonus.

I do not see what the issue is here. I think you are assuming that the supervisor was telling you (via the cashier) in a sarcastic tone but given the fact that she offered you a solution if you did not get your points makes me think she was being sincere when she suggested you "take the risk". She could have just said NO you will not get your points and tell you that you MUST purchase more after coupons so that you will be over $50.
The supervisor would not have done anything differently but stand beside the cashier while he processed your transaction but instead just relayed the information over the phone. Maybe she was in the office helping another customer. You don't know. In the end you got your points with using coupons.Last edited by CrazyQT; Mon, May 6th, 2013 at 11:31 PM.

I agree with you complete. I am - well not for much longer a Supervisor for SDM and I have been for 4 years now maybe or more. Maybe the supervisor does but please don't make some a general statement that SDM should retrain there supervisors. Shopper's does train us properly and we deal with everything under the sun. She could of said it differently but that is how some people are and talk. She was right about taking a risk because some customers use coupons and it drops them below the level then the customer complains. Its up to the customer to make sure he/she has either $75 or $50 etc to take advantage of the promotion. Cashiers can hit subtotal to make sure but its up to the customer at the end. I have dealt with so many customers in almost 7 years of working for them and I have learned you can't please everyone and you do your best. And yes I spend hours in the office doing paperwork, counting tills, verifying coupons and helping customers who have called and even headquarter. Thank you Crazy QT.

oops, sorry i wasn' t able to exact detail, the issues were:
1) the being sarcastic of the supervisor (portage ave. branch) by telling to take the risk instead of giving me the concrete reasons why i am not getting my 20x points, and yes she gives me an option to refund and redo the transactions if it will not be taking the 20x, and she went to their office which is just behind the till.
2) during the refunding and redoing the transactions, the cashier who is helping me is a newbie and don't know how to refund the coupons, 2 other cashiers helped him and they still cant figured it out, they opened the door which is just behind them to ask the supervisor involved. And she just said that she don't know how to make a refund (huh),
