If Sobeys had a way to get out onto even the Intraweb, that would be a shock to me.
We're using an internal network, no outside lines, but even so, the computer up in the break room breaks down more often then not it seems.

At my last job, I had to use the internet for my job. I only used it for personal use (most of the time
) on my lunch. However I had most of my staff on msn, and it was handy for to have contact with them this way. They could text me that the bus was late, or I could send them a message to see if they wanted to come in, or even if they had questions about the schedule and so on. It made my job a little easier.

Because of the sensitive information I work with (Apple Inc.), there are no 3rd party websites allowed or instant messaging/email except for internal traffic. The only non-work related computer use allowed is a system set up in the lunch room for employees to use on their unpaid lunch, but even that has a good number of domains blocked.
As well, all storage devices and peripheral ports are disabled by the site system administrators so no files or programs can be copied from or onto cds, dvds, flash drives or any other storage.

After work hours it's okay, but definitely no msn or any other messenger programs.
